Thats not what he said though - he said ALL high power N/A builds are unreliable - that's nonsense.
Like you say it's only if you thrash the s**t out of them - but that's the same with a non ITB'd car, if you thrash the hell out of it.
Saying boosted is better is nowhere near true as you're...
Nonsense - Mines been built for over a year now, not a single fault ever at all. It has never failed to start even in -4c when it hasn't started for 2 months.
I've only had to re-balance them once and I've never had to tweak the map or anything
And that's on a 117k old engine
It wasn't my intention to say it's the best thing since sliced bread - it really isn't.
And I fully agree if you enjoy doing that stuff then fine - but you WILL end up with a dashboard lit up like a christmas tree which makes MOT's even more difficult to get under the new legislation. So I still...
Chip - even if you do replace the whole engine loom with an omex loom and new connectors - your dashboard, starting, fuel pump, lights etc.. etc.. are all running on a 10+ year old loom that you say can fail. So the only real argument for reliability on a track car is to replace the whole lot...
EDIT: This is a reply to Swede - not you Chip
*sigh* I feel I'm hitting my head against a brick wall here
So you're comparing a Gen90 price to ecu's for other cars that wont fit a clio? OK whats the point in that? Shall I start comparing the price of Jenveys on a Clio to motorbike body...
Normal black spray paint - car paint
It was a common trick when I was a valeter if a roof lining or parcel shelf was covered in marks - just mask everything up and spray it with a load of fine coats of car paint. Bizarrely it works really well and doesn't come back off when dry
Don't use...
£500-600 cheaper?
You're quite clearly comparing a brand new Gen90 with a 2nd hand omex kit
Omex 600 is £600 + about £190 for a loom so £790 + postage
That's more like £150 difference
And I'm sorry but saying anyone who is using a car for anything other than road use should ditch the...
Haha well that's the other option - pull the 2.5" hard drive out the laptop and you can buy a kit off amazon for about £15 that allows you to connect to it with a usb cable :)
Yup - or Elvington with a handling circuit and 1/4 mile - same format as TOTB
Incidentally TOTB is on the same weekend as FCS this year - I know what I'm doing :D
My worry also - I don't think our club will actually even be organising a proper stand as no-one seems interested in travelling to it :(
Yup.
Nope - they're pretty convinced that making it a 2 day "weekend" rather than a single day will mean everyone will make the trip down there
As I've...
Oh also - the way you're saying that it can't see the static IP address of the iMac
Are you SURE they're on the same IP range?
What's the IP Address of the iMac and what's the IP Address of the Windows Laptop
Unless they're both on say 192.168.1.* with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 -...
256mb USB pen? Is it the 1980s? LOL
My usb pen that I carry in my wallet is 32GB
It's actually easier to set up a samba (SMB) share on your mac and then throw the files onto it from your windows laptop

Re: Cup's with xenon's please.
HID's in standard lights is an awful thing to do
They aren't projectors - they blind everyone as they don't have a beam cut off
As emma said - mine only cost £110 (shop around) and took me an hour to fit.
I fitted oreca door cards and re-wired the windows to work with some generic switches off ebay which I've fitted into the dash
I'll be honest though it took me a day with a multimeter and a load of soldering to get to work :(
Re: Cup's with xenon's please.
Wrong bulbs, nearly dead ballasts or hazed to hell then
I had brand new unhazed cup headlights and changed them for a second hand set of xenons - the xenons are at least double the brightness, they're awesome
Re: Cup's with xenon's please.
Ignore the "It's not cup" people - honestly, they're no heavier at all than the non-xenon units, it's just cost saving from Renault
It looks 100x better and the light output is 10,000x better
It was one of the first things I did to my Cup and I've never looked...
I'm sorry but is this serious?
106 gti on jenveys?? I run the 106 owners club and 3 of my mates had throttle bodied 106's. I was faster round the ring in a STANDARD 172 cup..
Megane - nope.
z20let corsa and turbo 205 hardly cheap to build and not as reliable
starlet - maybe if tuned
Seriously...
Yeah - I'm loving all the insults in here from people but honestly 10+ years of driving the snow on the roof of my car has NEVER slipped off, it's fecking frozen onto the Passat. Tried to scrape it off today but I'd have to scrape it off and probably wreck the paint lol
I guess in cheap...
I tell you what in all the years I've been on car forums this is the first time someone has told me to do something sensible that's never occured to me! Fair play
I clear all the windows but just leave the snow on the roof...
Consider it cleared next time I go out though!
He specifically said his normal drive is a diesel van lol
I think people underestimate the speed to be honest - saying it's a waste of money blah blah
£2.5k will see you a set of bodies on and setup, £850 will see you a ph1 172 - or £1500 will get you a 172 cup. - so £4k all in (forget the...
