If you're heading up to angelworks, pop into gdi and get one of their single exit 182 style systems (like a 182 exhaust, so cut into the bumper, but just on one side)
Erm... panel filter £35, angelworks mani £250, exhaust £500ish, unsure how much ben charges for a remap.
First of all, go to a huuuuuge carpark, with nothing to hit.
For those saying he shouldnt learn this, its a very good idea to learn, and more should try it. The more car control you have should things go shi*t shaped, the better. But do it in a carpark at 2am.
You cant drift a clio, you're...
The 4-2-1 exhaust manifold is where the extra 10bhp or so comes from, (4-1 on a 172) but is expensive for the gains you get.
A good bet is a panel filter, good exhaust/ decat, angelworks manifold and remap. Should see you with far more power than a 182.
Right...
Aa man has just left, had a clip laptop thingy, and the fault codes stored on the ecu were throttle sensor and 02 sensor both faulty.
Reset the faults to try and trick it, but it remembered - doh!
Its now idling fine, around 950rpm, but is in permenant limp mode, wont rev above...
Ah, cheers mark. Have a free homestart with the aa, so the guy is on his way to have a look at it. Does seem like a sensor of some sort.
Reckon it'll cost much? lol
Right, have reconnected the battery, and car starts fine, idle settles at 2k, which is still a bit high. Will let me rev the throttle pedal, but the revs climb really slowly, and will only climb to 3k. it then settles slowly back down to 3k.
Eliminates throttle pedal being at fault i guess.
Right, have disconnected the battery, will leave off for 30mins and see if it sorts itself.
Everything seems tight and well, and didnt wash the bay so is completely dry. Hmmm...
Drove my car off the drive to wash it, everythings fine.
Spent about an hour cleaning, and tried to start it up again...
Engine light, and electrical fault light came on. Car went straight to idling at 3000rpm, and stayed there. Cant rev the engine at all.
Turned it off and on again, and...
Bit soft at the rear for dedicated track work, but depends how committed you are to driving an uber stiff car around on the roads on a daily basis. Otherwise superb.
Lol! what was the bit about tax about? You didnt pay tax, its the 10th of the month! You shoulda bought your tax nearly two weeks ago...
Seen loads of good cars about for 6.5k fella, thats a huge amount of money for a 172...
Aye, sounds like bearing or engine mount or summat. More info needed though really!
Car handles beter on the 15's, more go kart like. If you dont like em, is an easy enough step to swap for someones turinis ;)
Have been convinced that white is the way forward vince, so think they're staying for the time being, lol (until i get hacked off with cleaning them that is, they're black with brake dust at the mo :p )
How are standard dampers better than h&r's in terms of quality?
Does sound bad mate, seems like something else is affecting the suspension for them to keep failing though.
Hehe!
They come ready painted in white, stick a set of apex on though, as look daft unlowered
:o
And tyres for 15's are ridiculously cheap... 195/50 15's are circa 30quid!
