Toyed with selling it and buying something less hardcore in the summer. But because it'll be summer, and posing will be too easy, I probably won't, then I'll have these thoughts again next winter :)
Dan
Mpg - anywhere from sub 20 to about 31 was my best ever driving like a fag on a long run in heavy traffic.
I'm not gonna lie, the pose ability is massive. The full balls out performance difference between the 182 and V6 in a straight line isn't that great - but in daily driving the Vee is much...
Worth noting as well, that in the £10k heroes article, Evo did state the one they were testing had been damaged at some point in it's life and fully rebuilt by some Motorsport place heh.
Good ones for sub £11k are rare, the odd one goes through V6Clio.net, because of owners needing a quick...
One on eBay for £10k starting bid, no bids and only a day to go. It has an undisclosed reserve though.
I'll be PMing that guy, Revels is it? Who works at a dealer and does good deals,a nd getting on the RS forum next year when I need something a little less 'extreme' than the Vee. Thinking...
Straight line, nothing in it, he only has about 20bhp on you stock, and it's old, and it weighs a LOT. Corners you'd make him cry with the realisation of how bad a Mk3 Golf, combined with a big heavy engine in the front, handles :)
Dan
You'll probably find all the 'lower end' of the price range Mk1s are dogs/damaged recorded or damaged and have crappy repairs. Was certainly the case when I was looking.
You can't beat it for getting looks and sparking up conversations in petrol stations either heh.
Dan
TBH I can see why people go for them - it does look really nice in white. For me personally, I'd go for a ever so slightly second hand R27 - pref. last of the line with revised gearbox - but that's just me, and no one else has to drive my car so I'll choose what I want - which is why I'm not...
It was you following me into FCS from the Travelodge this year hehe :) I didn't give it any major welly cos it was starting to rain and if I'm honest, we had NO idea where we were going :D
Dan
Mine feels quite a bit quicker, everything feels soooo stiff for a few minutes though heh. Gearbox, clutch etc all feel like agricultural machinary (more so than usual) till I get out of the village.
Dan
I would never declare a dealer fit or factory option. I'm sure this would never be a problem - mainly because I worked at an insurance company for 2 years and it was never a problem. Declaring cup packs? WTF? Surely no one actually does that? Because, like, you don't need to heh. That's...
They will be eventually - when they get cheap enough. I'd like the V6 won't get cheap enough - and if it does, hopefully the chavs that buy them will write them off and push the value of mine up :)
Dan
Pretty well if mines anything to go by ;) Although wheelspin in 3rd off the throttle was a bit iffy...
Once it gets too cold though, it starts to have a negative affect apparently (so a friend doing some engine crap PhD tells me) - something to do with minute ice crystals in the air.
Dan
I have a small one... Centre top of the rear window. I might take it out though, it's in my view in the rear view mirror and bugs me a bit. Or I might change it to the web address only.
Dan
I took the Vee out last night, cos I had to. It was -2c and judging by the thick frost on *everything* had been for sometime. I feel the sensible thing would be to lay it up in this weather - but where's the fun in that ;)
Dan
Sweet dude. F40 rocks.
You know how, when you click a thread, and you know what the 100% dead certain predictable negative responses will be...? It's nice to see they're all in here heh.
And also, there is no F50 there.
Dan
What do you base that on? Have you owned one? I owned a 206 XSi 1.6 16v for 3 years, and it was an excellent car for the money. Interior was nice, engine was fizzy, insurance and servicing were cheap as chips, it never went wrong in any way, it had loads of kit, it wouldn't do less than 30mpg...
Hehe yea :) Somehow I find the interior less noticeable in the Vee. Especially when the roads are greasy. Also, it kind grows on you and you learn to accept it after a while.
So I guess now my perfect 197 would be a White, FF 197, with the Recaros and white paint. And the MP3 CD player. Not...
