Chip, you don't seem to do much real circuits (MSA circuits, Oulton, Brands, Rockingham, Snet etc) from the videos and threads that I have seen about your track day escapades, why is that? I personally have only seen you on old airfields and the likes.
Interior looks fresh, what was the steps did you take to clean it and was the alacantra brownish prior to the clean?I
had the same the other week mate, two of the same tie rods in the same packet with the same part number but two different threads on.
Another number you could try if your...
I would take it usually mate but I need to kerb my spending on my racecar, I have more than enough parts to build it and I also have Iceman's saxo power steering setup that might get fitted after some testing with none fitted.
Yeah that is the easy solution or even just loop your current rack to keep the same lock to lock.
I really don't like the steering of the base spec cars and tbh I hated clio's for years due to the steering on the lower models (seating position too lol) until I drove a sport and it was more...
All your needing is some angled shims to bolt in between the rack and subframe by the looks of it. It might be too much work for yourself but looks more than possible if the pinion connection types and the rack mountings are the same which was my worry before.
Once you fit shims it will bring...
Its easy, jack the car up and put it in neutral, slacken the 13mm clamp on the linkage while leaving it in neutral (make sure it is moving free from the bar and linkage) go inside the car and place it in what you think will be neutral, nip the clamp up and check for all gears. Repeat until...
Is the pinion at a completely different angle or something? otherwise everything should work even if you have to chop and sleeve the steering column but I can't see it been needed given that its a collapsable column. Sealing it isn't a big problem, might not look pretty but who's looking!!
LOL
Re: Road/Track 172
I chipped in on the doors too, wasn't sure if any will be made after this lot so better to be safe.
Your wanting Tony at ACW plastics then mate, the guy seems to take pride in his work, was going to polish up al the edges of any cut for clarity. he'll cut holes etc for pop...
Yeah if you just leave the standard seat spacers in on the gear tunnel then they are perfectly square, not possible for me unfortunately, you can barely feel it, looks stupid from the rear view though.
Cheers.... I thought about it tbh but being a daily for just now I didn't want to tart...
Had yet another day on the Clio, got up early and got tax then polished off pretty much everything I want to do to the car except put 10mm spacers all round, I still have 20mm on the front until I get the right bolts for 10's. I'm getting scrubbing on hard lock and pushing on a bit with et40...
Sorted it today, I originally bolted the runners to the side mounts and then bolted that to base frame which was pulling them in at the back causing it to bind, I had used M8 bolts with no washers so that wasn't an issue inside the runner. Slackened all base frame to runner bolts and it glided...
Just grind down the spigot on the hubs or rear disks and buy FK automotive 10mm hub centric spacers if that's the width your needing. Just done it this week with 10mm's after they came and wouldn't fit, iirc 16mm hub centric spacers are the smallest you can fit to a standard Clio.
I will when I get a chance to fit them mate. I'm looking forward to the results, might need a fud hair off them with other shims in there but better to be too thick so I can change them.
That was my thoughts as well but I used predrilled holes on the base frame so it should be square, it was...
Aye glad its finally got the golden seal.
The seats are nice but a real tight squeeze in a little Clio tbh, Im tempted to get non winged seats come racing time. The runners don't want to work with the seat in place (unbolt the side mounts and it slides :S) so i'll check that out so It can be...
Right so another day spent on the car messing around, woke up this morning and decided I wanted the car going this weekend so set off down the lock up to change the cat, what a job that is lying on your back, after a bit of swearing I dropped the subframe and with the aid of the worlds smallest...
Just as well from the pics for sure, good luck with the build and getting it to Rockingham on time. At least its not up to you I guess for the work to be done in time.
I could save you the trouble of finding bolts and sell you a set of recently painted 5 spokes in anthracite with 6mm tread all round and the bolts you want.
FLOL
Update.
The car went in for its MOT yesterday after fitting the full fat interior and mats, I played mix and match with all the best plastics and trim from both my cars and the half leather interior so its looking good, fair bit of difference between interiors on the 52 plate and 53...
Thought I would start a little side thread as the group buy section isn't commonly visited afaic. We need 2 more people to get in on this and you will get 2 doors for £350 delivered. Bargain to be fair so don't miss out.
