Insurance quote for a 172 at 19 (already got one dont want advice!)

After all the threads about this the last few days I thought I may as well have a look how bad it was for me. I'm 19, 2 years no claims, non fault claim, 3 points SP30, live in a 'D' cateory postcode. Got the quote for an '03 172 worth £5.5k, fully comp in my name. Cheapest quote was £1768...

seriously considering going back to the past....

My mate used to have an E28 to drift in, was an awesomely clean car, then he fucked it up completely and modified it to be lightweight in a terrible way, such a waste of a nice car!

    1.2 16v 0-100 curiousity.

I've timed mine 0-60 between 10 and 11 seconds. Not too bad at all, at the end of the day it's only a little shopping car. Got to laugh at all the sport owners taking the piss, everyone has to start somewhere with a car!

    1.2 16v 0-100 curiousity.

a 172/182 is only twice as fast as a 1.2 16v to 60mph, I wouldn't class that as 'much' quicker.....;)

    Clio speedo accuracy?

Just wondered in all honesty, got 3 points so don;t fancy anymore so I always stick to the speed limit, but at the same time I don;t want to be pissing other drivers off stuck at 55 in a 60 if my speedo is out by a mile. I could buy a road angel etc but to be hoenst I'd rather not as it would...

I'm willing to bet a fair amount of money that it actually can't.

    Clio speedo accuracy?

I think it's just mine to be completely honest, is there an adjustment on the cable etc for it, can I get it recalibrated with a lower tolerance?

    Clio speedo accuracy?

Also to note it is a brand new tomtom top of the range thing, with all updates etc, if it makes any difference?!

    Clio speedo accuracy?

According to this site: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html the difference between 185/55/15 and 195/50/15 is 1.5% too fast, so when the speedo reads 60pmh it is actually doing 59.1mph, so not much difference, although I suppose it will add up later on in the speed range.

    Clio speedo accuracy?

Beef - all depends on whether the radius is the same as the standard tyre size. I checked doing constant speeds for a few miles, so definately way out. Edit, j6 they will be, but 5mph at 50, then going a lot more above that speed seems a lot?

    1.2 16v 0-100 curiousity.

I'm pretty sure thats impossible with standard gearbox + standard rev limit + standard wheels, plus the fact it hasn't got the power to hit the redline in 5th...

    Clio speedo accuracy?

Had my cousins sat nav over the weekend, and my speedo seems to be stupidly out, I know sat navs may read slightly under due to time delay, but my speedo is telling me 55mph and sat nav saying 50mph, and this gets much worse over the speedo.... Are they all this bad? I have 195/50/15's on...

    1.2 16v 0-100 curiousity.

Hmm, well had one for nearly 2 years, and I'd say never if there's a headwind, the speedo is miles out and will only do 106mph anyways!

    Bought a new TV :D

Impulse bought a new Samsung 37" TV today with a friend, in between college lessons! Bit gutted as I won't get it until next week but gives me time to sort some space out for it! Didn't go for the 1080p one as I don;t really think I'll see the benefits, plus couldn't justify the extra cash to...

sell my dynamique for a astra sxi !

I liek them, my mate has one and to be honest it isn't a whole lot faster than my 1.2 16v mate, I think the 0-60 book times are very exagerated slow wise in the clios, he pulls a few lengths to 60/70, after that pulls more ocnvincingly. I know what you mean but why go from an 03 to a 2000 for...

    Boeing Dreamliner....

The amount of money that I see going into developing a single engine for the plane shows just how much would go into the actual plane itself, there would only be a very very small chance anything like that could happen. Admitidly though that is enough but I very much doubt it is linked to any of...

    Garages in Nottingham

I agree, however with the co-owner being a very frequent poster on the forums it would be in his best interests to do the work that people are paying for. I understand your point though. (p.s wheres the updates on the rally clio?!)
