I'm out
Apparently tuition instantly turns you into Senna with your new "awesome trail braking skills dog" - and your standard clio will be flying past cup race cars LOL
Don't talk b****cks
There isn't a single clio in the world that wears discs evenly - they will ALWAYS wear the inside of the disc first because they are a single piston. They will always generate heat more on the inside as that's where the piston is exerting its force - this gives less surface...
The whole trumpet length argument is quite a tricky one
I know tuners who insist that the longer the trumpet length the lower down the torque will be - but I also now some very good mappers that say it makes no difference whatsoever - which I saw proven on a 350Z last month when we trialled...
No - not really
I wouldn't swap to a 182 manifold for performance as at best you'll get an extra 3-4bhp but it takes 3-6hrs to do depending on your mechanical skill
I only swapped because it allows me to easily switch between a cat and decat - plus my car was off the road so I didn't mind...
4-pots are lighter - reduction in unsprung mass will really help handling
They use both sides of the discs - wear evenly - and last longer
They are more progressive allowing you to apply more braking force before locking the wheels up
4-pots dissipate heat better preventing you from cooking your...
I've had the plastic ones go in the past too - but they've always been on 5 or 6 year old radiators
I'm sure it will be fine - and to be honest at £2 for a bung I can replace it as a service item lol
It's easier with the inlet manifold off
You can get a mate to hold a 10mm swan neck spanner onto the bolt in the engine bay side - then lay under the car with a 10mm socket on a really long extension and they come straight off :)
Bimarco futuras
I'm 5' 11" - but weight 17 stone - big shoulders etc.. I fit in perfectly
They even do a wider version if you need it
They're only £450 brand new for a pair
You can get the radiator sensors/switches from GSF mate - they're only about £8 - just ask for one for a 1995 Polo 1.4
They're pretty much all m22 x 1.5
I just didn't fancy having an unused connector stuck out the back of the rad lol - OCD fail
Cheers mate :D
I'm absolutely itching to get it back on track. I'm gutted that by the time the interior is painted and the cage back in and buckets fitted - it will be february and probably sat in 2ft of snow LOL
As soon as the weather clears up I'll be heading back to Brands Hatch!
Yeah I do mate - I'll drop you a PM :D
Stu? Bloody hell you're on every forum LOL
I can't go anywhere until I get seats - hoping to pick them up week after Xmas
First place I'll be heading is the social club so I can bin K-Tecs bracket for a Stu special ;)
Had an awesome weekend on the car
Fitted my Polo radiator - tidied all the Omex loom up and *drum role* I cut all the old Renault engine loom out that I don't need now!!!
Forgot to get a pic of the radiator with the front bumper off :(
Fairly easy to fit though - just had to make 1 bracket...
Looking good mate but you REALLY need to ditch those short trumpets and put some 90mm ones on - will be restricting power loads
Also the trumpet isn't lined up with the throttle body on your photo
I've just fitted the polo rad - gives LOADS more room I'm dead pleased with it. I'll update my...
What the hell are people on??
The 172 manifold comes out the top - easy
Take the top inlet manifold off - support the engine on a trolley jack - undo the drivers side engine mount and pull the engine forward slightly - the 172 manifold lifts straight out
You have to obviously disconnect the...
You do what???
If someone had whacked the hell out of my top mounts I wouldn't pay the bill at all
Also if the top mounts aren't both in the same mirror positions then you're running mis-matched camber & castor
As for string - WTF. You can use string for toe in/out if you're properly old...
Yep - if I leave for work at 7.30am it takes 4 minutes - if I leave after 8am it takes 40minutes just to get down Skellingthorpe Road
Hence why I don't use the clio daily lol
Spoke to K-Tec - they've tried one against their own cars and they're wrong
They've been waiting for ages for the brackets from a manufacturer and it turns out they've cut them wrong - OOPS
They said I can either send it back and they'll send me another one out when they get a new batch (which...
I've sent K-Tec an email with a photo on it - hopefully I'll get a reply next week
They said £25 + vat on the phone - but then charged me £38. I'm assuming £8 for postage - but I'm kinda not impressed that it doesn't even fit lol
Apologies for the god awful iPhone photos
Bit more progress.. I have to say the novelty of standing in a freezing cold garage every night with a roll cage in my back (garage is too small LOL) is wearing off - think after this weekend I'll be leaving the car alone for a while.. but here goes...
Yeah it's loads lighter - couldn't believe how much gubbins is around the old fan. Engine bay looks empty now. Lots of room for a carbon air box on the bodies :D
I'll do a run over to the local radiator place tomorrow lunch time and hope they have gone a brass bung or something
Right - my polo radiator turned up today
Fits in the car easily enough - leaves loads of space if I angle the top forward slightly
I need to make some brackets up at the weekend to fit it - but I have a question
There's a hole in it for the fan switch - M22x1.5
Where can I get a bung or a bolt...
