Done that mate - drove around the village with the handbrake on - they were red hot lol
He says on the handbrake they are working fine - so surely that means pistons are free and discs/pads are working fine
But foot brake there is no effort
I'm very VERY tempted to cable tie the bias valve open...
Yeah guys - I know all about the cup bias valve and the VOSA announcement
They still use the load compensating valve but with the arm disconnected - so it stays fixed on the lowest amount of braking - that's fine - he's happy with that
But he's saying 30% and 18% isn't enough even taking into...
Yeah I know all about the VOSA announcement - gave it to my MOT bloke and he said he's happy to pass it with the bias valve disconnected BUT
The rear brakes are showing 18% and 31% - and from what I've read they must be about 30% on each side to pass
So even if I take it in for a retest...
Arghghghghhghhhhhhh
Just had a phone call
VOSA have said I'm right and the bias valve isn't supposed to be connected - but that the "acceptable braking force at the rear" is up to the tester - and he says it's still not good enough
Recommended I clean the rear pads and discs and free the...
He said it didn't - he said it comes up with "special instructions" but nothing for a 172 - But saying that he didn't even know what a cup was - just kept saying the other 172's he's done all have the bias valve connected *sigh*
Yeah I took the update from the website in (from 2006) and he...
LOL the alarm was installed by renault when it was imported - got the thatcham certificate for it and everything :(
I'll try wiring the new one up in the exact same way but if it doesn't work I think I'm gonna remove all the bodged wiring so I just have an immobiliser - and save up to have a...
Ok so I've got a 172 cup with a Cobra 7895 alarm fitted by renault when it was imported - like most people
The little red LED never flashes and the damn thing NEVER makes a noise
So I ordered a brand new Cobra 7895 alarm from renault - with loom and fitting kit
Swapped the alarm over...
Just had this today
Failed my 172 cup on rear bias valve disconnected and rear brake effort very low
Took him the print out - "well im not happy to pass it mate - it's doing virtually no braking on the rear - shouldn't let you drive it really as its dangerous"
f**k OFF - it stops on a dot you...
Yeah its got the sensors on the pillars and the siren under the scuttle
I was hoping the siren would be the same as the one on mine so I could just swap that over and leave all the wiring in - but this new one has turned up and looks different
The sensors are nice moulded ones rather than black...
Hrmmm I read the installation instructions on here and it seems to get its power from something called a UCH?? (not sure what that is - but i'm assuming its the central locking module which picks up the radio signal from the key)
I'm assuming my UCH isn't knackered because central locking and...

It's a completed auction though so you'll have to be logged in
I've determined the cobra alarm on my 172 cup is dead as a dodo
The LED never flashes - it never beeps even if you lock the car with the doors open etc.. etc...
So I enquired a few places about buying a second hand siren (which I see is the entire alarm control box too) - but seemed a lot of...
That had just come unclipped - so I've taped it back together
I would have thought that if the door or bonnet sensors weren't working it would just beep to tell you it couldn't arm
It never beeps, the led never flashes or anything :(
I'm wondering whether to try to get a siren and control box...
Also.. not to fan the flames or anything - but the tyre marks on that photo weren't produced at 20/30mph!!!
I've braked hard in my Cup at 30mph - and it doesn't slide that far...
What speed were you really doing? :p ;)
Yeah mate - I'll pop over one night if you're about - you can have a look over it
Needs some tidying up - but well happy so far

Yeah I've just sat reading all the search results and looking at pics - it is the standard "coba aftermarket" 172 alarm
I've just NEVER seen that light...
I'm a bit confused about something
There's a little red LED near the gearstick on the center console - doesn't look factory fit. Cables seems to go up behind the dash and connect to the hazard light or something
When I press the hazard lights it flashes once. Other than that it seems to do...
Does anyone know how much work it is to fit light units from the standard 172 with the ballasts etc??
I'm gonna phone cliospares at the weekend and see if I can get a set - is it a lot of wiring to get them to work on a cup?
