Yeah but he's said the raceland ones were very hard - and so has the guy who own's the car
But another lad who fitted them said they were too soft and he wants uprated springs
Loads of people with v-maxx say they are too soft and roll too much LOL
It's impossible to decide on any because none...
Yes it is - but seeing as neither K-Tec, Raceland or V-Maxx actually give specifications on spring rates or damping rates - it's impossible to tell which is best
And the fact that KTR's coilovers are made in europe and imported in batches, and so are v-maxx and so are racelands - I'm starting...
Yeah but the thing is - the raceland stuff and v-maxx all use the same size springs, and the same spring platform at the back
So any uprated springs would fit on any setup
The only difference is the shock damping rate and the build quality of the actual strut
Yeah they do sometimes drill boot floors but thats usually to fit extra mounts over factory standard
Every system I've had from them has had zero movement in it at all - not swinging all over like OEM kit
Also you can talk to the guy fitting it if you want and make any special requests you...
Just to clarify - I spoke to K-Tec today and apparently their own coilovers won't be back in stock until END of april - beginning of may :(
The raceland ones are in in the next couple of weeks
:( I may end up having to buy v-maxx instead - I don't want to wait 2 months for the KTR ones :(
I've had 8 exhausts from them over the last 10 years - all been good quality
Had a £600+ system on my 309 gti, then loads of systems on my 106 quiksilver lol
The young lad there Matt is a top bloke
For that price I'm sure you'll be happy mate
Oh sweet - you've had both
That's sold it for me then
Can't wait to get fitting them :D
Is there a thread on here that explains what the camber adjustment thing is and how it works?
Is it something I can setup when fitting or do I need to go somewhere special to get it all setup
I need the...
Righto - cheers guys
The feeling I get reading through old threads is everyone is happy with both - but yeah k-tec being uk based and I can drive down there if I have any problems swings it for me I think
Better give them a ring on friday and see if I can get the club discount :D
I'm ordering some coilovers this week for my 172 cup - and was wondering what the general opinion is between the Ktec-Racing stuff and the V-maxx I've seen on ebay
Are they both about the same range in height??
Also I've read that the KTR ones come with built in camber adjustment - what...
I've not driven a 172 or cup with standard setup - but I currently have sportlines and it's very harsh. Stiffer ride than my 106 was on billies!
So I'm currently selling my sportlines and going for KTR coilovers - as I'd like the car to sit lower and I'd like a bit more forgiving ride
LOL nah - that's west burton ;)
I've worked on quite a lot of cars over the years and it's always the under mileage ones that cause grief. Everything rusty, bolts that snap off
I think engines these days are designed to be used - and as long as its got really good service history and...
Seats are 'Recaro Speed'
Cheers mate
The bodywork is immaculate for its age and mileage
It's got some stone chips on the front and the windscreen has about 8 on it LOL needs replacing
But being nearly all motorway miles (23k in the last year, and 28k year before that) it drives brilliantly...
As promised some pics of the mounting points for the OMP 3" harnesses
The recaro subframes have a welded nut for the standard seat belt. I fitted some 7/16th eye bolts into them for the inside 2 harness mounting points
In the boot I used some brackets that came with my old recaro subframes...
No me neither - I don't think it goes with anything
I'd really quite like to swap the wheels for some silver turinis - as I think they look good standard. If not I might try and get the lip painted in mondial blue to tie the wheels into the car a bit better
It's quite nice - it's not loud...
As I put in the original post - it's mostly standard except for :-
Eibach Sportline springs
Ktec racing stealth stainless exhaust
Powerflex lower engine mount
Recaro Speed Leather and Alcantara seats
OMP 3" harnesses
OMP wheel
Custom resprayed anthracite CUP turinis with diamond...
I didn't - I parked it there just to take pics
It sits on carpet in my garage all nice and warm ;)
Yeah it had some really horrid old car mats in it so I binned them rather than try to clean them
Gonna get some genuine renault ones this week
I've had this for about a month now - it used to be sir_dave's on here and I bought it off of 'classicsheepflavour' on here :)
It's a very late 2003 car with 96k on the clock - though 2 years ago it had only done 46k LOL
Dave took it to nurburgring and also used it as a daily motorway...
I got them from demon tweeks last year for my 106 gti
They were somewhere around £700 for the pair I believe
Oh and the seating position is amazing - it's a little bit further to the left so your central to the steering wheel - and it's at least 2-4cm lower than the old seats.
I removed the...
I knew I'd get asked that - cos it was a bit tricky to get the harnesses in without drilling and fitting backing plates
I'll get the dSLR out tomorrow and take pics of all the mounting points :)
I haven't really taken many pics of my car since I bought it a month or so ago because it's been constantly raining/snowing/dark
But I fitted my recaros today and couldn't help but take a pic
Absolutely chuffed - they suit the car so well :D
I'll get much better pics with my dSLR...
Re: someph-ing different...........
LOL I just read the posts with pictures ie. your updates
I want that cage - I got a lad on the stand to open your boot at autosport international while I took some pics of the cage. I was positively drooling haha
Well my wheels are anthracite - similar colour to 182 cups and I'm having my diamond and bullets done anthracite to match
So thought the grey 182 headlights might look quite nice
I think i'll have to do a photoshop :D
