Anyone heard of the "Clioman" littlehampton, west sussex. Will give him a call as he has a good reputation. Apparently his location can be off putting up some sort of farm track?
10 mins dont sound too bad. But done it 6 times so far. And obvs you dont save dollars every time, and its a matter of judging that.
I did it with Greenlight for example- the whole 10 mins, and they texted me saying i had more than 21 days before the policy could commence, so couldnt quote. And...
Issue is that details they need takes 10 minutes to complete
and when you do that 3/4/5/ times starts getting on the nerves
And then the laptop battery runs out............
Course, comparision sites are useful for only enetering infor the once, unless the vehicle is modded which they dont...
My lease R goes back in 3 weeks, so oil change/filter, engine treatment, front brakes, coolant, wheels n tyres all been sorted so Clio can last me over the winter until the next lease/purchase come along
The R will certainly be missed as it gets the looks and has the power, but Clio will come...
Think it depends how heavy u r on the brakes round the track. I "dab" the brakes quick rather than plant my foot on them for a couple seconds, and my standard pads havent faded on several track days yet, and at Lydden and Brands Hatch i wasnt holding back the throttle.

Fitted a corbeau Clubsport in passenger seat and she seems to like that too, which is good cos I attend about 10 shows/track days a year, and she comes to half of them
She Luuuurrvs the Golf R, but that goes back in 3 weeks LOL
My road wheels are Clio standards, the thick 5 spoke wheels called "Dynamique's" i think. Pretty sure they are 6.5j rim width, and have just put 20mm spacers on the front, and 16mm spacers on the back, and no rubbing at all on my lowered phase1.

Brake pads front, 20mm spacers, and 16mm spacers back. Pleased no rubbing on the (Lowered) backs, as 20mms back did rub
and finished off with a nice clean :-)
And I do fancy getting one- its the plan. But my cold starts are fab (Its the warm starts it needs couple seconds) and the torque and revs seem really good too. When I see some Ph1 owners are getting round 150bhp, it makes me wonder if the engine has already been tuned :-) or bits that I cant...
My (standard engine other than induction) Phase 1 made 165BHP last time i went to Surrey Rolling Road, only Phase 1 there from what i recall. Could do with a Torque measure, and as it runs so well, weighing up whether to RS Tuner it or not.
I'm lucky then, as i have a BTB exhaust on mine, and the receipt to boot.....
Might need some spares, thats why i was asking, as i keep bumping on bleedin speed humps.
i fitted 20mm all round 6 months back, and the rears rubbed as its lowered
20mm on front seemed fine
Got some 16mm hubcentric for the rears now trying them- was told 15mm sit fine on rear (heres hoping 1mm wont matter) and have 15mm spacers for rear but not hubcentric
Will let you know how i get...

just makes you sweat wondering if you've told them everything: Rear Cage, no rear seats (Obvs) coilovers, decals, BTB Exhaust, induction kit, bucket seats.....

Youd think with only a little bit of life left to go, the olduns would get a move on. LOL
how you get on OP. Mine had a small vibration, and getting the front tracking done (was way out bcos it has been lowered by previous owner) and that seems to have sorted the vibration
my temperature indicator has been below middle in the 13 months ive had it, done about 6k miles and never had an issue.
Track days too, altho it does go up a bit then LOL
Gone past the big 5 Owe, and had my 172 a year- love it. Love its perkiness, rumble on the engine (Modern cars are so noiseless, which makes them appear soulless) altho there is an aftermarket stealth exhaust. Turning ability and grippiness is great too (Coilovers fitted so lower)

So why are there so few Phase1's about. Everyone seems to break them, or is it just getting the belts et al all sorted that puts people off.
Is there anything other than rust to watch? as my belts due early next year and she is no minter. Paid £550 for her a year ago and she's doing proud as a...
