The west coast is brilliant I was lucky to grow up just outside Oban on an island called Seil. Still get back when ever I can.
There are no other roads like it in the UK up the west coast but for the ultimate in challenging roads the Isle of Mull beats everywhere else in the UK.
Not sure on if they are any good on a Clio but Avo are serviceable and are good to deal with. I used them with the Puma and will be going with them on the Twingo.
Just did mine in the twingo. Just make sure you mesure everything and check it all. There are a few kits available just make sure e the tubes are long enough as some of the kits have shorter ones that are too small (we'll for the twingo) I assume the floor pan is similar so best to check.
I just have 2 sets of sliverstones left and pair of dunlops left from running the Puma so just going to see how they go! Interested to hear how the Clio goes with the different makes as I would imagine the Twingo would be good on similar.
Didn't think my 133 cup was bad at all I used it for 4 years as a daily. Used it for a few weeks up in Scotland and doing the route for a rally with the after the cams and exhaust were done and it wasn't as nice but better than I was expecting.
Definitely agree on the right day/road thing, I...
I think if someone was to grab the Clio market now for rally parts they would do quite well. I know pure motorsport do a fair bit so at least there are some bits out there. I never see Clios entered much up in the North on events or even club events (they still think a satria is the best thing...
What are top running Escorts these days? 800kg? Top Clio 900?. I know its a problem is balest touring car style an answer?
I would like to know what the top 1600 cars kg's are to compare to the Twingo.
Another thing is that you can buy any competition part of an Escort so easy as there are so...
Sadly this is the opinion of a lot of rally folk! I grew up listening to Escorts in Hamsterley forest so they hold fond memories and my dad also used to rally imps, minis and avengers and I have owned 2 avengers but like most things tastes change in some people. I have moved on from the 70s...
There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for Renault sports in general for rallying for some reason. Can't see why tbh, lots of people scared of trying new things I think. I would think a 172 standard set up would be fairly decent (not Cup). Done 2 targas in my Twingo 133 before it begun getting...
You could always just mask round it and re spray it. What about if you get chance, change the mudflaps to yellow then it may look more not so out of place.
If you can pick them up at 150 that's not bad at all.
Just bored so though I would have a look online for some of my favourite videos.
Mine is Peter Taylors Griburn stage. I know the local postie was clocked at 152mph in his 2.5 mk2 Escort but this was some going to break the stage record.
Having driven the stage competitive and seeing over a...
It is expensive especially Mull but worth every penny lol. Hopefully it runs in 2019 as I have only missed going up 4 years out of 36 and I would like to take the new car up. Taga rallys are fun and cheap also. Plenty of people in the know on the forum for building any type of Clio.
Looks good. Just turn it straight into a rally car. Sprints and hillclimbs are just not the same buzz. Few guys got rally cars on here so plenty of advice on building a Clio rally car.
What about looking at a different motorsport? Something like auto tests, auto solo's or taga rallying. All can be done in a standard road car that can be driven to and from the event.
I have only ever done 2 rally both being Mull. I would of been happy finishing tbh but was happy that in a standard engined puma we beat a few turbo 4x4 cars and a 1600 civic type r that's currently on ebay for 16k!. I am hoping once my Twingo is finished I can get more seat time like when I...
That's still good! Are the discs just standard 172 size? Just my Twingo 133 runs 172 discs but the calipers are mk3 Laguna. So could potentially save weight and they are more efficient cooling.
OK so I really don't have a clue when it comes to wiring at all. I have an autolec master switch to put into the car before the car can pass its motorsport passport.
I know it's for a Twingo 133 but I imagine it is similar to a Clio. I have the standard ecu.
Any good advice or know of anyone...
This is the championship. http://msnrallychamp.co.uk
If you look on you tube for "steve quigley Clio" he runs an ex Clio cup car and is regularly in the top 5 on events.
Hope this helps a bit. I am sure the rally boys can help even more.
But I wouldn't discount rallying there is so much of a...
Have you ever thought about rallys? Your car with a sequential and back to na would be a good start. There is a championship that uses the race circuits round the uk.
Just thinking outside the box!
