For me the 197/200 just isn't fast enough to warrant the MPG.
I know a guy who went from 197 to a 370Z and the Z was only 1 mpg worse.
Great chassis but it needs a new high compression low boost turbo engine. Will keep most of the response but add torque low down and judging by similar...
I wouldn't recommend a ktec stealth. Poor fitting, heavy and drones a lot on the motorway. I'd be going for a yozza everyday.
Its like comparing Adele and Megan Fox tbh.
Seems a bit pricey for a bog standard 11 year old Clio. PH1 172's are going for £1500 now on average.
There are so many better cars you can get for that kind of cash.
Paying a scene tax then though. Plus all the hassle of an engine conversion etc. I'm not saying it won't be a better drive but for the extra expense and hassle I can see a VTS a nice compromise.
Fair enough. I was tempted by one of these for some cheap fun but went for an mx5 instead. Be interested to hear a comparison between the two as they're obviously completely different.
I personally wouldn't bother. I put an SS exhaust on my 172 because I wanted it to be louder. Other than that left the engine standard. I don't doubt these mods may improve throttle response, smoothness etc but in reality for the pretty big outlay you make in order to get it I seriously doubt it...
I made a 500 mile round trip to get my 172. Well worth it. Excuse for a day out too.
I was looking at this car in the for sale section (just browsing not to buy it) it really is a great spec and a bargain at that price too.
Personally I'd get fresh set of premium rubber all around and uprated brakes (DS2500, Brembo HC, dot 5.1 & braided lines). I'd get some sportlines too, I thought it made a huge difference to the sharpness of my 172. It gave more turn in confidence, whether it improved cornering speed I don't...
I think the ph1's look amazing on the standard F1's. They don't suite the ph2's are much but the PH2 172/182 standard wheels are horrible imo. Too bulky for a hot hatch.
Its a shame your having problems with it mate. To be honest unless they start to cooperate and do it properly I'd be looking at chucking it back at them.
I dropped my mate off at his house when I had my 172 which had a ktec stealth and airfeeds removed from the airbox and the next day his neighbour complained that I'd woken his family up.
I was typically unconcerned.
The later power delivery is nothing to do with the vvt. iirc the vvt starts at around 1200rpm, its just a character of the engine that the power is delivered later, its nothing like Honda's vtec etc.
The ph1 172 out braked a Ferrari 360 and a 996 Turbo when it first came out so they can't be that bad. Admittedly that was with brand new brakes, fluid and lines and they didn't say how many times it would actually do it.
I found the brakes on my 172 sound as a road car. If you drive on the...
The engines are strong and the boxes are ok with mechanical sympathy. My issue is with things like the engine mounts going sloppy. Out of the three 172's i've driven, one of which I owned they all had engine movement even after new mounts. Admittedly I've never tried with with uprated mounts.
B00st bus. I'm so glad you didn't have this in Le Mans. I would have been lost permanently.
Looking forward to seeing the progress. I'd bet you'd get decent money for them wheels on ebay!
I guess the time to get the 200 was last year then. Big difference between £199 a month for two years and £259 for three.
Although to be fair this offer is better than has been available recently.
