Guess what, I emailed GAZ and explained my problem, gave them a link to this thread and kindly asked if they could send me the parts needed for the rear shocks to get fixed (since I don't live in the UK) and they were very nice, replied within half hour and said that they will dispatch the goods...
Wow finally found someone with the same problem! But yours is a bit louder than mine though..
I was suspecting the rear exhaust mounts in mine as they are a bit loose and I have the milltek dual 90 mm exhaust tips and they do touch a little on the bumper trim but if you said that with normal...
can't remember but I have the cup suspension and 23 mm outer bushes. Some mechanics had a look and all the bushes looked snug and undamaged. they said the knock may occur in one of the brake calipers somehow, there's some play in one of them apparently
have you any pics of the things you describe? mine isn't that low on the front and it made these knocks even with the std suspension, as far as I remember.
it's like a knock but not very loud. I also have about the same noise on the front for ages and couldn't find it's source, everything is tight, poly bushes, solid mounts, etc and still knocks, but that's another story
I will get into this, just recently moved my shop to another location and that took me all of my spare time. But don't expect something extraordinary, they are built very rough, with cheap materials, no stainless steel or aluminium inside, except for the rods maybe (they look and should be...
They are really good on the dry, didn't actually track them but on a dry road they are fantastic, I never had the guts to push beyond their limits, waiting for a track day for that :)
Hello there,
I have the new style GAZ units on the back (coilovers) and they seem to make more noise than the standard setup, is there something wrong in this new design or is it just something regarding the install procedure?
Thx!
p.s: I find it a little bit odd now that the entire rear end...
I have 16" ultras and it scrapes the rear arches. I have no spacers but the 595 rs-r are slightly wider than other tyres and they do scrape a little. couldn't imagine how you could get 10 mm spacers on the rear with any 205 tyre without it rubbing
I'm taking the wheels to the paintshop later today, I have a final dilemma between matte black (renault F1 ultraleggeras) and cup pack grey. I love the black option, seen a iceberg silver 182 ad it looked great with them.
However on arctic blue the grey option would look nicer I guess.. What do...
Hi guys,
As spring is about to come I was thinking of painting my wheels and the mirrors in the cup pack grey (anthracite). I have 16" ultras at the moment,
here's a pic bellow:
So what do you think? should I? (mirrors plus rims) One mirror cap has some fine scratches and the wheels also
Thanks!
Well I don't know if solving a problem that no one ever knew about is that great but yeah, the dedication part to solve something must be a good thing :))
Have to work though on developing obsessions lol :D
Ever since the aero blades came as a retrofit option I always had the impression that they don't look so good on older cars, that was mainly because it was obvious they weren't a factory fit.
Plus the fact that they don't fit the screen very well as I'll show bellow.
Anyway, I got an obsession...
Yeah I used to grease the threads but the problem is that grit and small debris are bashing on the shock rods and they eventually get small chips which allow for water and dirt getting inside because the seals can't do their job if the shaft is damaged. Seen this on my old coilies.
The ones in...
Hi there,
After ruining my first set of coilies I decided to take a better care of my new ones.
They are GAZ GHA (yeah I know they have a bad rep but anyway) and they have no boot around the shocks. I can't find anywhere something suitable for them in the UK (they are the new design with rear...
I will take it apart once again to get some decent photos. And yes I'm not leaving my fork in that state :)
But taking the coilovers off the car and sending them about 2000 miles away to get them refurbed by GAZ, then letting the car on stands for a month or more is not quite easy for me :)
Ever wondered how a f**ed up GAZ looks inside?
I have a bikeshop (working on suspension forks raised some questions) and was dead curious how they are so after receiving my new set of coilies I took one front shock apart to see what's inside and found ... disaster!
Have to say that they gave up...
Yes when resting they are ok. But there is a small gap left untouched at the bottom of the screen. to some people that is annoying :D, hence the 22/21 possibility
Yep I have some local suppliers, problem is that I have no idea what kind of bearing I need. I took the mounts off and couldn't see a bearing code or someth. Pulling the bearing out and measuring it looks like the only way to do this
I have these on my car for 6 years now and one of them has some play in the bearing. Their service kit is a little of my budget now considering that I'll also have to pay for transport to my country (around 40 quid) which will make the whole deal cost me like 110 quid. (too much for a bearing)...
I wouldn't say the car in the pics is more than 40mm lower. mine is about 25-30mm lower (measured from the ground to the subframe before and after) and it rubbs like hell when hard cornering (on hairpins mostly).
I wouldn't even think of going lower than this, the shocks would remain out of...
I have the same kit and it came with 275lbs front amd 250lbs rear, so you could start adding some percentage to these values. I would uprate the dampers also, give GAZ a call
Had a read of this thread one more time today and was thinking of another upgrade, this time more expensive but anyway:
from the following vehicles:
Mercedes Vito, Sprinter
VW LT
You can get the windscreen jets that are mounted to the wiper arms. I've been in a short ride the other dar in a Vito...
