33 .... posted for no more reason than itll get me off 199 posts that Ive been stuck on for days (since Off Topic doesnt count) :)
Also feels good to know that Im only middle aged in Clio ownership terms.
6.5k until its warmed up ... 7.2k thereafter. So perhaps your car previously thought it wasnt warming up ... oil temperature has to be above 80 degrees or something until itll lift the limiter.
So ...
F1 GSD3 - love them - look the dogs and great in dry and wet - just cant get them :( Would be £190 for 4 at Micheldever if they had any, but theyve been on order for ages. If they cant get them then unlikely others can (and indeed when I called my local tyreshop they couldnt)...
Thanks guys ... as Id feared. The Eagles are great in the wet ... and Toyos arent which is important given the way I drive and UKs weather.
Thruxton reference is to Renault event this weekend, so unless our parade lap turns into an impromptu race not going to be pushing the tyres. Was hoping...
So just phoned up Micheldever Tyres to sort out my planned 4 x Eagle F1s ahead of Thruxton at the weekend and they havent any in stock!! Since theyre the biggest and cheapest tyre place for miles around if they cant hold of them then .... :(
Other option in some Toyo Proxes. Less money, but...
I understand the labour bit .... tho Im sure a top expert like Mike could do it in less time ;) ... but what the heck do you get in a Cambelt Kit to justify it costing £147+ ?? Its only a big elastic band :o
Sorry to hear that Mike! About the only safe place to leave your car is a locked fortified garage these days! Worries me ... if its this bad now whats it going to be like when my kids have grown up! Well all be living it castles and never coming out.
Spooky ... was just a moment ago looking the Yellow Pages at dent repair companies. Got an annoying ding on my boot lid (plus some tiny crazing on the bumper below) were some b*****d ran a trolley or something into mine.
Also theres the bad paint scuff on my front bumper ... but I know the...
Had mine for about 5 months. Fitted by K-Tec and hangs spot on with no problems at all. Used to the volume at 70-90 now ;)
K-Tec are one of the few companies Ive dealt with who actually get what customer service means! They dont just take your money are run ... want to make sure that youre...
Also the ones that Halfords list work just fine too. Think I paid £13. Various brake places I tried didnt have an entry in their books for 172 rear brakes. So I took a risk with Halfords knowing what they were up too (so a big risk :)) and they were right for once!
Actually reckon there are 2 components to this ...
1. Your wheels bouncing ... not sure if its formally axle tramp (is fwd cars drive classed as "live"?) but basically the wheels losing/gaining traction as they scrabble around. Ive had this on various cars when your wheels lose traction and...
Various folk have told me that back pads are thinner to start off with ... so even tho theyre breaking less, theyve got less to wear away. Must admit the ones put on the other week didnt look that skinny to me!?
Just did the rear pads on my 172 @ 32k, but discs have got a little bit more life in them. Has improved braking efficiency so clearly the rears do do something.
Rears arent as beefy as the fronts but then again they shouldnt be working as hard. Quick thought is whether youve got a problem with...
172 I assume? Your knocking is "standard" on 172s ... lots of discussion around on the forums about it, and indeed was pinned item for a long time collecting names of people to get Renault to take some notice. Do a search and youll find out all the gruesome details :(
Around an hour to fit all 4 springs - tho this was somebody who knew what they were doing on 172s. Probably would have taken less if I hadnt had been getting in the way! Didnt even need spring compressors since the Eibachs are just short enough to compress with body weight.
So if somebody...
Please too ... coz my clutch is feeling very skinny!
Reckon the real cost will be the labour ... so if anybody has had it done what was the labour involved? Engine out, or sub-frame off?
When mine goes, reckon Ill go for an uprated Group N from K-Tec @ £295+VAT.
Eibach Pros. Drop was small but still noticeable (so 10-15mm). Handling is well sorted. Bought them from K-Tec so £110 I think + bit to have them fitted.
Got a mid-priced one. When I bother to use it ... spray once with straight water, then spray with bubbles, use a sponge, rinse with water and then chamois.
Sponge and chamois do all the real work, which is why recently Ive started using just a bucket, sponge and chamois.
Now if only I...
Strombas car did really well ... especially for those of us who were taken in by his thread last month about how it had come last and theyd been really nasty about it :)
Spent the whole article waiting for somebody to be disparaging about Willy, but never happened!
Which is why it makes me laugh that they went the effort of making it look like a 5 seater, replete with 3 point middle seat belt and headrest.
Even my kids wont sit behind me and theyre only little. So on the very, very rare occasions Ive tried to get 4 in my car (let alone 5), my missus has...
My twin 3" - fitted by K-Tec themselves - has a gap of about a 0.8 cm (depth of a little finger) between the bottom of the bumper and the top of the pipes. Think they used some sort of stainless strap around the back box which seemed to allow a lot of adjustment!?
