You should see my roof! Someone / something took exception to it big time ... 4 dents all near to the edge where you dont want them! Keep meaning to see if a dentless person can get headlining down and sort them!
Given up cleaning my car since it happened a few months ago - cant bring...
Trouble with dark colours is that from a distance its not immediately obvious that its a 172 and hence something special.
With a dark Mk2 I need to be up close and personal to see that the whole lot is colour coded to confirm that its a 172. Even true with Mk1s ... dark blue for example...
Clearly the security very much depends upon what you get. Not that Ive done much research - I was principally wowed by how cool (or is that geeky) the doors were ;)
The electric door Im looking has got insulated metal slats which run up very solid metal channels on each side. No gaps round...
Hmmm ... strange about the wing mirror width given the logic that they take the 182 shell, cut the rear arches out, bond door skin and rear wings on, and add the wider front wings. Bloody Renault can even get their drawings right!?
Garages are built smaller because most people dont use them...
I assume the distance between the tips of the wing mirrors is exactly the same as a 172 tho since its original from there upwards? Have always thought that since I can squeeze 172 thru one of my current doors that a V6 would go in similarly, tho getting out with the deeper doors might be a...
As I read Simons reponse my brain made the immediate logic leap and was expecting a dreadful admission that he made his wife squeeze in under the bonnet :o LOL!!
Me biased ;) I have test driven all 3 Ill let you know!!
However, havent felt the need to upgrade from my current rattly one to a later less rattly one. V6 255 or nothing for me :D ... tho with the current downward trend on 172 value plus the growing cost of my house extension ...
If I actually manage it (looking less likely with spiralling house extension costs and questionable outlook of payrise), Ive decide that Im going to get my V6 in silver! My favourite colour for car ... and you get colour coded air intakes for free ;)
Probably make it a pretty rare V6 255...
Other approach is to get a late Mk1 172 ... splits the difference in performance between Cup and Mk2 172; has the toys; handling is easy to refine with some Eibachs; and theyre getting cheaper by the second so youll have some spare change left!
Somebody in a dealer actually said this to you? If there is any difference between cash price and 0% finance price, then its NOT 0% and they can be done for it!
Ive a simple model ... bought the missus a big new 7 seater earlier in the year. Very rare that all 4 of us go in my car anyhow, and with baby #3 due next month theres no way that 5 will ever need to fit. Im planning on getting a V6 soon ;)
Seems to me Optimax prices have more inertia and so move about less ... probably coz its heavier petrol being higher RON rating ;);)
When plain old unleaded was on the way up, the Optimax price took longer to rise and so for a while was relatively cheaper. Once Optimax price went up, its now...
Power starts dropping after about 6.7krpm so thats the point to change at. However, will admit that once the car is warmed up I hit my limiter in 1st and 2nd many times a day (my late Mk1 hasnt got a shift light). Its what the car was made to do ... can rev significantly higher than Renault...
Planning on getting one ... subject to me getting the house extension sorted out for the missus and having enough ££ left at the end of that. Looks great ... sounds great ... rare too. My ideal car since I (a) like hot hatches and (b) like bigger engines. Only car that I know that takes a nice...
Tappety noise is usually the injectors. Certainly when mine is sat at idle (especially when sat waiting beside a wall at a drive-thru) it taps away like a good un.
Im with Admiral and (a) they were cheapest and (b) the let me have usual mods (exhaust + springs) as part of the internet quote. Over £90 better than DirectLine whod be the best the year before and who dicked me around about mods on my renewal.
Got a quote for a V6 from them ... £600-odd so...
So youve never owned a Xsara Picasso then ;) Fine car apart from the lights ... headlights + fogs and you can still only just about see where youre going :( Truly abysmal headlights! Dont think typical Picasso driver is going for the sporty fog-lights look ... tho I did rag the car to squeeze...
Shouldnt be any belts at 24k. Even at 36k the accessory belt isnt mandatory. Some dealers might tell you that it is (which is an additional cost on top of the already expensive 36k service) ... but according to the excellent service guy at Linningtons in Pompey (where the esteemed Mike172Sport...
Go and ask JAY172 on Exterior, Power & Mechanical forum ... if anybody has any idea itll be him. Sure I remember him discussing immobilizer coils and the like in the past.
