You have two options, buy catcams super expensive camshaft locking tool as this will allow you to adjust the timing from OE or buy an adjustable exhaust pulley.
Re: Project 172 Trophy Red Megane 225 Powered Heavy Track Car
Andy I spoke to a friend of mine about those "TURBO" decals you want for on the side skirts, You definately want them in the same colour and font as the "TROPHY" decals on the clio trophy side skirts? :p
Right lets quash the rumour's about why supercharging kits have failed recently.
As everyone knows the F4R engine uses a free floating cambelt and pulley assembly, now whilst everyone knows the camshafts pulleys are free floating very few people realise that the crank pulley is also free...
Just man up Liam and jump on the turbo band wagon. I have a few ideas that should put low pressure turbo conversions very close to supercharger kits.
With a bit of carefull spending it should be easily cheaper than an ITB kit, a further bonus is I'm also local so could give you a hand and...
It really isnt that difficult to install, your biggest issue will be removing the sump to have it tapped for an oil return. Apart from that everything else is a bolt on job.
Personally (and you won't like this) I'm with David and think the turbo will be the biggest stumbling block, it'll...
What to choose really comes down on what sort of power you want? are you looking at replicating Ktecs low pressure kit? or was the advertised power figure based on a low compression engine?
I've had a look at the photos and am not convinced it is actually a ktec setup (maybe David could...
Well I'm going to disagree about the PSA gearboxes being pants. I've got a 40k miles 51 reg saxo VTS on the drive at the minute and it's gearbox is easily better than my trophy or any other 1*2 that I've driven. Even my shed of a mondeo tdci has a better gear shift action and better feel. The...
I bumped into an arrogant FQ driver a while back who must of been thinking the same as Ben, the look on his face as I overtook him whilst he was on full chat was truely priceless :D
Here you go this should get you going.

Tell him to join RTOC as theres loads of info over there, and that outdated push rod engine is still setting some awesome 1/4 mile times etc... so theres still life in them yet, plus tuning them is a lot easier than both the f7r/f4r engines
Right chaps just a quick one, I have a full data logging system AFR's,EGT's,Inlet temps, Boost etc..... fitted to my clio. The display unit is a perfect size to fit in the centre clock surround with a little bit of fiddling, due to the fact that I have an aftermarket head unit and it only shows...
If you have a look on ktecs website all catcams are available with the vvt delete option there also down to £580 at the moment. You'd like to think they would be cheaper due to not needing the oil galleries machining in. Pulley wise just use an exhaust pulley or as mentioned stick a set of...
I only know of one person to do this and he filled the oil galeries with weld then had the end milled down so the inlet cam was the same length as the exhaust cam. TBH if your going to have to strip it that far you could buy a set off catcams VVT delete cams. Then maybe drop a set of vernier...
Don't take it the wrong way Felix, were just being inquisitive as both me and you are running very similar set ups, and consuming very similar amounts of fuel yet the results seem so far apart?
Did you find out what the injector duty cycle was?
Mate I was in exactly the same position 18 months ago, I had a mint condition Trophy which I'd owned from new, I did the same calculations as you and drew the same conclusion that I'd be better off sticking with what I had rather than buying something which had bee thrashed to death and...
Danny is spot on with what he's saying.
On a single line fuel system as per a megane 225, where it has a 3 bar reg in the tank, when you up the boost to say 1 bar you will potentially only have fuel pressure in the region of 2 bar, as obviously boost@1bar+fuel@2bar will open a 3bar regulator...
Just what I was thinking Danny, I've had a look through felix's photos and hes done a cracking job with the intercooler pipe work, no tight bends etc... I think @1.6 bar the power delivery is going to be pretty brutal unless he has a progresive boost controller, or the ECU has the same...
