Just been doing some reading about this. Really not sure now as I'm gonna be giving the car serious abuse on the track. Maybe the cheaper ones would be better due to the wheel still being bolted to the hub. Surely safer? ​anyone got any views on this?

I got the headlight kit direct from the 3M website. They had it half price for a while but was out of stock! Eventually it came back in though

Been busy today sorting out a few bits on my phase 1 track car. It's done over 115k now and is showing a few signs of age! Used a guide on here to finally turn out the serv and air bag light. Then on to the headlights which I've been wanting to do for a long time. The photos don't really show...

Russ, did you just use a 182 exhaust surround? Or did you or the prev owner get that elsewhere? I could do with one for mine

I don't like the looks. However the interior looks nice. 1.6 turbo surely means that Clio tuning will be a lot easier and more worthwhile in the future

Hiya. Standard wheels were 15". I have done exactly what you are going to do. Although mine still needs a bit of tidying up. I fit second hand spax coilovers on mine as its mainly a track car. The original suspension will be getting on a bit now. Not sure about steering issues

You need to put resistors in the wiring that went to the airbags. Its easy to do. Theres a few guides and posts on here showing how to do it.

Re: My PH1 172 Exhaust mount looks good. I did the cheapo powerflex bodge to mine today. Lucky I did though as the exhaust mount was so bad and the bolts were so rusty there's no way they will ever come off. Part of the mount appears to have snapped also.

John, just to clarify, I'm not worried about the value going up. My car is just for track day fun, its never gonna be worth much. I was just interested to see what people thought about values of the ph1 in general. Nothing to do with making money I still think in 10 years we'll see some mint...

Really? How do you explain a 1991 tin box R5 GT Turbo being sold for £4k then? The reason, is cos there aren't many around. I'm not talking being worth 7K or anything. Just 2-3k seems quite probably within the next 10 years?

The phase 1 172 has got to have almost hit rock bottom now don't you think? You can pick them up for peanuts. They seem to be being broken for parts quite regually, and therefore must be getting less & less in number. I know they will never be worth a fortune, but when you see things like this...

How strange. In pic two the outside clios look like bigger versions of the ones next to them! Nice looking cars. I put ph2 rear lights on my ph1 but after seeing this lot the ph2 rear lights look a bit odd
