you should have 2 of the rubber mounts and one of the metal collars on each shock.
but the metal collar is not big enough for the AST's to fit through.
On the standard shocks the upper bush(s) that hold them in place are in two pieces, the upper and lower section, but with a thin collar that is more or less pushed between them to hold them as a complete unit.
then the upper shaft section of the shock slides through this and the top but goes on...
When you say New - ish, what timescale do you categories new?
taking a random guess at your age but I'd say they have probably been going more years than you have been alive ;)
Having just fitted a set of AST's, I've noticed that the main body that comes through the top mount is a couple of mm larger.
I've drilled out the flat washer part of the upper and lower bushes that they attached through the turret to, but I'm curious about the small collar section that you...
With the standard calipers, I ran DS2500's, Motul RBF600 fluid and a full set of braided lines.
They were adequate, but I did feel a need for better, so we have since changed to 4 pots but still run on the same fluid and with DS2500 pads and have had no problems with them atall, i can't fault...
Just fitted AST's to mine.
Cant give any feedback on them yet as the car is still sat in the garage waiting to go for its geo setup.
Fitted them along with the pure motorsport top mounts as brace, and the whiteline rear ARB.
Im going to be pretty disappointed if it doesn't handle well :)
It really won't, it's a waste of money.
The cars are good, but certainly not good enough to waste that level of money.
You sir are going under the category of daft!
Most stupid suggestion ive heard in a long time, if he thinks it's safe and secure ask him to go and ask the local MOT station or an opinion before he does it!!
£100 on springs, job jobbed!
You would probably compromise the ride by going for cheap coilovers, unless you were aiming for the better brands.
The Eibach Sportlines are a very good compromise for the money, a nice drop and still retains a good comfort level aswell as good road holding.
Id say go Eibachs if you can't...
Get yourself a squirty/spray bottle, fill it with soapy water.
Then you can spray it on the screen while you line up the top tint, when using your squeegee or credit card you can work the water out from underneath it as it will be a little more manipulative this way, and helps to remove the air...
Chip, in your opinion, would you fit the whiteline rear ARB if in our shoes, or remain with the standard item.
Im just fitting the AST's, Pure motorsport top mounts with the strut brace.
All front end bushes renewed etc.
I do have a brand new whiteline ARB still boxed in the garage waiting to...
Awesome stuff, but god does it stink horrid.
Dont use it where the smell may find its way in to your home, or near a drain that could take a while to drain away as you really will regret the smell that it leaves in your nostrils :(
For those out there that have used the low level cobra bucket seat subframes, can I ask what seats you have used with them.
Ive just been told that they only sell them if you are already using cobra seats, as they won't fit othe seats (Sparco/Corbeau etc).
Personally I'd have thought that was...
1.2's are a very good wheel, extremely light for unsprung weight.
IMO they are priced well and a good choice if you really are conscious about weight saving in the right areas.
Go in to Renault, give them your reg and they will order the part for you, you won't need to go in armed with the part number.
Renewed ours a few weeks back and they were £70 ish per side from Renault.
I'll put the order in for both.
Just hoping the AST's come back soon :)
Fred, mildly off topic, im led to believe that you can supply the extra low bucket seat subframes, would this be true!?
Russ, no problem buddy, I get what you mean ;)
Russ, I know what a strut brace is and how it works, and the top mounts bolt in to the turrets the same way wether they utilize a brace or not, so you cant justify the brace's need to be there to hold the top mounts in place.
But do the clio's flex that much without one to warrant the addition?
On that subject, is it worth buying the strut brace as a package?
Are front braces really that noticeable on the Clio's, or just an outlay for no real benefit?
Although I'm happy to buy one if it genuinely warrants it, im just not bothered about buying one just so it looks good under the...
30mm is enough in my opinion on a road car.
Retains a decent level of comfort, gives the car a great feel on the road, and doesn't go OTT with the lowering.
I think an anthracite of some variant will suit it nicely, but don't go to dark... Maybe something along the lines of the 182 cup wheels colour could be quite nice.
I'll happily take them if you let me know a price.
Im 45mins away from you so I can easily pop up as soon as you say they are ready for collection.
I can even pop over a holding deposit until Sunday if that's easier for security ;)
