KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

Can't say I'm a big fan of the Elite stuff, but it is improving. I'd rather save the extra and just go Sadev.

Uprated poly exhaust mounts - how many interested?

Almost finished on my end, another day or two for finishing the batch and baking/curing, so shouldn't be too much longer before Kev has them in hand, for those waiting on them :)

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

Sorry Kev, you have to remake it 3 times before you can join my certified bodge it 'n' scarper course. If you're using the stock box and not a clicky box in the Honda format, might be worth just looking at popping a spray bar in the 'box if you're that worried about it.

    ECU & Dash display.

I've got full GPS and logging on this too, the only downside I can see so far is whilst it'll build a track/lap map you have to bodge it a little for rally stage timing, but it's something they're looking at with me now.

Why do most people rave about polybush dog bones?

That's not great, you'd get microfretting at the surfaces and the thread if the inner moves because it's not up to torque, what's the reasoning behind that?!

Why do most people rave about polybush dog bones?

There's a big difference from going from a knackered/cheap ebay special mount to a poly, compared to going from a brand new decent rubber to a poly, I'd say. And this is from someone that ran a daily with solid engine mounts, and rose jointed and bearing'd suspension - there wasn't a rubber or...

Why do most people rave about polybush dog bones?

I looked at making more road-biased ones but there's so many people making dogbone mounts I don't think there's any openings for more products to sell well!

Why do most people rave about polybush dog bones?

Usual case with stiffer mountings, it's a bit of buyers fever (I paid money, it must be great!), and a bit of the normal thing when people fit stiff engine mounts, etc (It's like a racecar, it's fine!) :D Plus if you're replacing a knackered bush rather than a new OE one then the vibration...

    Impact Gun...(again)

They shouldn't smell at all when charging! I'd be getting those returned!

Cracking stuff ( see pic )

The reason you put new tyres on the back is because if you hit standing water the front will understeer when it aquaplanes instead of the whole car going around in a piroutte. Saying that, I just rotate tyres and replace the lot in one go anyway.

Cracking stuff ( see pic )

They're fine, it's just in the underlayer near the carcass, that's much harder than the compound on modern tyres and it's common for it to crack a bit as it ages.

Uprated poly exhaust mounts - how many interested?

That's up to Kev, I won't be selling any myself until he's run out...at which point hopefully the next sale is to Kev again :D

Uprated poly exhaust mounts - how many interested?

Probably a couple of weeks, I've quite a few to make/cure, there should be plenty in the first batch for everyone to get some though, don't worry :D

Yeah, I failed that one already.

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

Our gearbox had fun with the angle grinder for the starter motor too :D Although I put the mounts for the starter on the adaptor plate because it was easy, should have gone the whole hog and welded the box up to put it on there as it was a pig removing the engine every time it went pop.

    Map Sensor wire grade?

The signal is only generally in the milliamp range, so even common 5a cable will be fine

You were just buttering him up for early discount :D

Uprated poly exhaust mounts - how many interested?

Right guys, KAM Racing is going to stock these, so I'll let Kev deal with prices for you/group buys, as obviously I don't know what his overheads are.

    Youtube; Motorsport On-board videos.

Been over to France a few times to do this rally, obviously not us in the video, but this is what we do with the buggies: The tree's feel a lot closer on the night runs too!

They might be slightly cheaper than that as a pair, hopefully, I'm just sorting packaging/postage costs atm.

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

I'll dig it out, I think it's in my old OneCNC stuff. It's easy and cheap to make so might be an intermediate step until you make something shinier.

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

I do have a full CAD file for a semi-trailing arm version of the rear beam that uses standard mounting points for regs complaince somewhere if it's helpful, albeit for my old 306 rather than a 205/309 setup, I did it years ago but never got around to making/fitting it - I might still have the...

    Running with no PAS

You won't really gain anything if using a Saxo pump, unless you just need the power steering pump out of the way, they're a continously running pump so they're always going full speed and just regulated against the check valve, so it'll still use a chunk of power (and depending on what else you...
  24. PhillipM

    Running with no PAS

Yes, that's the bit that detects your steering input and applies hydraulic pressure to correct, if you remove the hydraulic pump and fluid then that bit won't function and you'll basically have a load of slop until the input side hits the safety stops. Any time you're making small inputs or...

    Running with no PAS

If you do that you'll have slack in it around dead centre all the time, every time you change direction or make small corrections. You need to fix or weld the quill shaft and shuttle solid.

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

I had something similar once where we had to clean the paint off the rear stays and cross on someones cage/spaceframe to weld some brackets on for an oil cooler for them - he'd brung it in because he kept killing engines and wasn't running any gauges/logging - 140*c after 10 minutes of running...

Uprated poly exhaust mounts - how many interested?

Right, since testing seems to have gone fine, I'm going to push forward with these - I've got a few suspension bushes to finish this week, and then the machine is free for a few days - so I'll probably get the first small production batch out next week, around 10-20 units.
