Nothing a set of coilovers and PE2's won't sort out.
However I think its slightly ott to say a run of the mill car will handle better than a car that "took hot hatch's to a new level" only 5 years ago.
A Ph1 172 is supposed to be one of the best handling RS Clio's and they're 9 years old...
I've heard this also, its this reason why I will be going for a ph1 172, and they're cheaper than a 172 cup lol
Wish the ph1's had a nicer interior though :( only let down on them for me, well the rear bumper isnt great either.
Looks fantastic adam realy improvement with the coilies.
How good are you at the colour coding? Is it hard? I think i'm going to have to re do my rub strips because ones damaged and was thinking of doing it myself.
Just buy the cup spoiler second hand and then get it sprayed in RB at a bodyshop.
There are plenty of splitter options aswell there are loads of threads on here about it because they always get broken.
I think that is a very informative post.
I'm not sure what people say about the engine in the 1*2's, the ones i've been in all seem to be nice and smooth to me. However maybe if i drove one I would feel differently.
This isnt a 172 cup v 197 thread mate. This is exactly how they get started and threads ruined.
If he'd of wanted a 172 cup he would have bought one, he didn't he got a 197 because its a new car, the most up to date rs clio etc
If you have nothing good to say about his purchase......
Re: value my car
I'd have to agree, its a mint car, however I can't see anyone buying a modded one for over 5K with 182's of a similar age going for around that price.
Putting it back to standard I think you will get 4.5K-5K and you can get a fair amount from selling the parts.
To be fair, Ph2 172's are also now between 5 and 8 years old. You could think about it as the ph1 has had 1K spent on it already on engine mounts etc where as the ph2 will need it soon.
Age wouldn't worry me tbh. Plenty of older cars on the road still running well.
Silvervisions, Coilies and Turini's needed Mark ;)
Love this car, ultimate track ****. I love how everything about it is functional.
Whats your ultimate plans for it now then? Drive it untill it eventually dies?
My next car will 99% be a 172.
However if my finances would allow I would have a 197 over any other RS Clio.
Far more rounded product imo.
Hopefully own one in a few years.
If everybody did that then how would you ever get that cup for 3K, because it would never have been sold.
The 197 has many advantages over the 172 cup, 172 cups are great cars don't get me wrong, but the 197 is brand new, has all the mod cons and will be comfortabely as fast round a track...
KW V2's I'd go for personally from what i've read on here.
However they are a lot of cash, V1's are a fair chunk cheaper but don't have adjustable damping.
Get it RR'd to see what power its putting out then go from there.
A guy on here had a 172 cup that was only putting out around 138bhp. I can't remember exactly what was wrong with it but he got it back up to 170bhp easily, was something simple iirc.
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Where's the trackday jord?
What tyres are you going to be using? Prada's you had on last time wasn't it, the ones that caused you your problems at oulton in the wet.
