well I was popping over to chertsey tomorrow after work probably 5:30-6 ish if you are around? only really need you to give me a rough idea if it need a dephaser etc. also what history did that 65k engine have?
Basically just weighing up my options if mine does need a bit of work doing to it. Not sure if you got my text James, are you around soon to have a listen to my engine see what you think?
I know it will vary from place to place, but how much roughly does it cost to have a 172 engine rebuilt? just to standard spec and would having the engine out make a big difference in the price?
I swear this forum reminds me of a pantomime at times! "oh yes it does... Oh no it doesn't... Oh yes it does" just waiting for someone to shout "it's behind you"
Well it seems the main point they are making is the 4 stroke is much slower than a 2 stroke. So why no race them? Instead they race someone that can't drive in a car that has no relation to the bike in question. And then to make it worse the get every fact wrong!
Well i had the 075 battery in there at first and the pipe work wouldnt have fitted even with a small filter. this is the filter that is pictured http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/twin-cone-performance-air-filter-air-induction-filter.html fits in fine (063 battery), the diameters are on the...
There is a hose that connects to the standard elbow. Follow that back to the engine, at the back under the distributor. Pull the hose off and put the breather filter directly on the outlet in the engine. Hope this makes sense
I used ASH for the parts. ordered 70mm id 90 silicone bend ( you will need to trim some off throttle body end but it is easy to cut), 70mm od alloy bend, the ASH twin cone induction kit and a breather filter. however with the breather filter i ordered the 18mm id and it is a bit big so might be...
well i know that the pipe that fits on the throttle body is 70mm id if that helps. A quick note though, there are two different size batteries, an 075 and 063 type. you will need the smaller 063 for this to work.
^^^^ not the best pictures and my engine bay is looking a state, which I am in the process of sorting, but as you can see fits well and was easy to do. Only done it last night so havent taken it for a real run yet.
When a induction kit is fitted on the standard elbow it is too close to the engine and gets heatsoaked, thus sucking in hot less dense air.
the Ktec design is good as it is away from the engine, but imo expensive. i just made my own version for £49 will all new parts!
Quick question, how does the standard top air feed come off? I tried pulling it but did want to break it. Btw I mean the one that goes in the side of the air box.
Cheers
Wrong site it's http://www.fastchip.nl/ The new price and unlock prices are on there. Very simple to use.
Having said that James Stone is not far from you (staines) and knows his stuff about these cars.
I had a k&n on the standard elbow. Changed to the standard airbox and could feel the was much better to drive. Just brought all the parts for a ktec style for £49 so will let you know how it fits and performs tomorrow
Can a RS tuner be used to read fault codes with it being locked to my car? If so i am in maidenhead if you want to plug it in?
Also there is Stone Automotive in Staines
