The amount of fail in this thread is epic.
Belt changes are half what they used to be.
Now to me and others in this thread, a snapped belt is not the end of thr world, as we either have the know how to change an engine or know people who can.
But for those who are less mechnanically...
How bad is it mate? Does it jump circa 200 rpm up and down? Can you see the rev counter needle moving?
These tend to be a little lumpy on idle, and if you have come from a differnt car (For example a Gernman car) then it would seem quite lumpy
They are budget, they last long because they are a very hard compound - means less grip, but no wear.
I would rather replace tyres more often, and have more grip
You say it revs fine over 7000?
As the power and torque drop off rapidly over 6800 ish on a standard 172, is yours modified?
Im guessing it's chipped, as it revs over 7k?
How bad is the noise mate? most only rattle on idle, but usually go on for a while before getting bad.
No mate it won't :( (well im guessing it wouldn't, needs more bars in lol) but the rest of the car is spot on, and it would make a good budget race car
15 watchers so far :)
Id do plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm - will be under £50 for the lot, and the main part of the ignition system will be fine - id guess it is one of these, could be any or all
Id say I can get it somewhere around 40% off RRP Dave.
Brilliant, thank you for putting it in lamens terms, I really don't have a clue :o
Makes sense that, I do have access to the polisher when I need it, plus the workshop at work, so plenty of space, in a warm (but not hot) space, which is...
Funnily enough Mike, I have an AG kit like that which has ben at the back of my garage for about 2 years :o not quite as big, but has most of that stuff in it lol.
I think Duf's gonna need something to cut through about 3 inches of crap off the paint thats collected over the past 17 years lol
