Tbh mate I've rode in various cars with the BC br's on (s2000, 200sx, e36 m3) and yes there firm but there not crashy.
I've gone for the softer rear (fast road) setup for now but I'll no doubt go for the harder spring when it becomes purely a trackday toy. I know @Gray and @MicKPM are big fans...
So Saturday is the day of reckoning, it finally goes under the knife!
Going to fitting
Scorpion RS240 exhaust with decat.
BC coilovers
R26r clutch
SMF lightened flywheel
slave cylinder
And all new tie links!
I think the missus will be happy as this is the state of the house, after me...
I've had both, 172, 197 and 182 trophy and I now have a r26
Both cars have pros and cons, as said the 1*2 do feel more "raw" but that's because there made of a lower grade of tin foil and Tupperware ;)
I liked both cars for different reasons, 1*2 is a hoot, something about it feels real go...
Cool, I'm only quoting from experience of the ds2500 tbh.
Yeah I think your far better with something like a decent spring and damper setup rather then a cheap coilover especially at this level
I think a good place to start really as many have said is get the car, give it a good once over service and fluid change then got some ds2500 front pads and brembo HC discs, fairly cheap and effective and they'll at least stand up to the abuse
Then maybe book some tuition, seems fairly cheap...
There are good all rounders, but after speaking to many more experienced track day drivers @NorthloopCup @MrBurns best thing to do is focus on driving and having fun, after all we're not competing even though the odd tussell is fun
Put it this way it got me hooked, already got two days booked so far this year now, one evening at Cadwell and a day at Blyton.
The cars now going through some extensive changes but still it'll be fairly adjustable when it comes to UK roads as it still has to at least get me to work and back
On a serious note you don't need a massively over spec'd car to go out and have fun, especially if your just starting out or don't have the privilege of a second car.
Get out there and have fun, make sure your car is in good road worthy condition and then as your driving progresses modify the...
Just a quick on on behalf of a friend, is there any difference in the 197 cup alloys in terms of either offset or width when compared to standard 197 wheels
Subframe (more of a cross member tbh) with the steering rack still attached as it seems easiest way. I'll leave the lower arms attached too and just undo the 3 bolts on bottom of hub.
I'll then swap lower arms on the floor, then I'll just take the whole leg's off and swap coilovers then.
I'll...
So today a few bits turned up, about there now ready for my week off at the end of the month so I can get stuck in with the work.
New drop links and anti twist links, genuine TRW (used by Renault) but at a much cheaper price off mister auto online.
Just the wishbones to get now which I'll...
Test them for voltage? Good look doing that with a multimeter!
Even checking resistance is fairly pointless especially if it's intermittent as you've got to recreate the scenario so to speak
Just buy a new set there cheap enough
