Id get a genuine Renault filter, and some semi synthetic 10w 40 - a decent make IMO, no matter what engine, always get decent oil.
Don't bother with any engine flush, it does more harm than good
Good to hear you know what you are doing, we see far to many people who fall into the trap of being given false information - nothing personal mind, just friendly banter :)
id say it was probably a previous owner who has fitted a different inlet mate.
For reference, my old 172 on throttle...
Whats the rev limit at the moment chip? Without looking for the build details, im guessing it still has standard rockers and lifters? Iv seen they don't like substrained 8000rpm+ use lol
Could be Danny, or someone has bought a set of matched ones off a 182?
Or of course someone had told the previous owner that fitting a 182 one would make it faster lol
What worries me is he has carried out all that work and didn't know what it is, it's a breather. So if he didn't know that, did he know you need Renault locking tools to change the cambelt?
Also I wouldn't have worried about the water pump, they are super reliable and are not driven by the...
First things first - DONT DRIVE IT.
Either get it up and the wheel off to see what damage is done, or if you're not mechanically minded then get someone to check it.
Sounds like you may have bent a wishbone or a tie rod - if you notice it is not driving right, get it checked, it's not worth...
Anything thats fun I get attatched to.
My black 172 I did over 50k in, turned it from a standard car to exactly how i wanted it, but then again i miss my 4 mini's - classic ones btw - not quick but had 'soul'
iv had Duf a week and im already attached to it :o
Yes, it could be just condensation, but I would have a feel inside the rocker cover through the filler hole, and see if you can feel any more on the cover itself - Id also wipe off the cap, nice good test drive to get it warm, then check again to see if it has come back.
Also check inside the...
Looks like it's coming along well mate - definately something I would love to do some day - I even went as far as putting a deposit on a non converted one a few years ago, but budget was not on my side.
Will be a big step to see the dash in :)
Flol! Nope, I have a funny feeling im going to have an eventfull time with this little car!
Getting cambelt done asap too as Im pretty sure it's overdue.
Good to hear it's had a new box, clutch and due to the best snapping in Tucks ownership it's had a head rebuild too.
Plus with the 172...
It does look a good shout Jay, looks a close series :)
Rich wasn't planning on racing the car to start with Rob,, it was a fast road/track car until fairly recently, when he decided he wanted to go racing - that is when the supercharger bits were sold, as there was not many championships that...
Had a fun hour at work this afternoon, took Duf into work as the battery had gone flat, so as I was at work this morning I stuck it in the workshop on the battery charger, but while poking around the engine bay I noticed the brake servo vacuum hose had come loose from it's clips and had been sat...
:o Will be sorted asap, promise , will explain in private x
On a side note, I'm very exited to be racing with Rich - The car is coming along fantastic and the level of work he has put in so far is just brilliant! Im very happy to get involved and we fitted the rear diff back on the car a few...
