I'm guessing it's not actually polishing that you have in mind more like a wax?
What are you looking to achieve, Do you want to give the paintwork lots of protection or lots of gloss?
As with anything you decide to do to your own car it's your decision.
However I will say this, by putting stickers on the skirts will likely result in you getting some stick off fellow members.

Whatever you decide on for cleaning them up make sure you follow it up with a good few layers of wheel sealant, get them nice and protected otherwise give it a few months and you will be back to square one.
Drove down a road yesterday and spotted a very tidy looking Inferno on a driveway with a beautiful E46 M3 parked along side, never seen an M3 in this light blue/silver colour.
The Clio had a personalised plate also.

Could be an idea to let people know where abouts you are located, it's a fair request and someone may be able to help you if they aren't too far away.
Thinking about it why don't you contact some local detailers and ask the question, you may just have to take your car to them.
Considering the OP has said he is looking to spend 2 days detailing it i highly doubt he will be entertaining this suggestion much like the majority of us who write in this section...
hmmm, since landing a company vehicle i have been contemplating getting myself thats a bit of fun for the weekend and perhaps the odd track day.......
just read that it also comes with a trailer and all thats needed to secure it
Personaly I have never had any issues with cleanyourcar, i have used I4detailing alot even though I once received the wrong items. Although this was a mistake they admitted to they redeemed themselves by sorting the problem out very quickly, got a few freebies to compensate so I was happy...
