A kindred spirit in a similar car. Welcome to CS and the grin factor. Like yourself I have the trappings of lost youth but just love the stupid kick of driving this car. Will we ever grow up. Never!!!
Cheers Tim, been waiting a long time to put it on. The painter is a small one man backstreet guy who mainly paints bikes. He did this for me at mate's rates and as a favour as my son used to work for him.
As stated he doesn't want to do any more engine covers. I'll check with him if he means...
Cheers all,
I think that more bling is probably the way to go. Looking at:
1. a Bailey's header tank
2. K-Tec strut Brace
3. Blue Samco top hoses
Posssibly closed induction kit although love the sound of the K&N 57i
Just returned from the painter with my engine cover. Says he'll never do another one the same, as he couldn't get the paint right due to all the curves. So I guess it's a one off. He's used a chrome spray and blue anodised accents. The light was not good when I took the photos so it...
Nice pics fella, especially like the moody dark ones. I can see you've become a right pic ***** now. You're going to have to give Steve his camera back soon, then what you gonna do?
There you go Haz, The response you'll get for putting one on is mostly negative. I'm only keeping mine on because it pisses people off . Personally I like it so I don't give a stuff what other people think!
Nice pics Justin, bet you are so tempted to get a DSLR now. Shame I missed RWS it looked like everyone had a great day, but Beaulieu Autojumble was cool, if only I went with a shopping list of what I've had to buy for the Elf following Sunday night.
Great day, fantastic meeting you all, Matt Wills you're a legend!!! Thanks to Justin 172 for adding order to the car park and organising what was a great day.
Took loads of pics so here goes!!!
My car to make up for not getting a photo at FCS!
How to arrange a Clio stand. Well done...
Had the Elf for about three years now and was in reasonable standard condition. The person I bought it from had done some bodywork and got it roadworthy. The only problem with it was that every time we drove it, the damn thing would break down. Spent a fortune over the last couple of years on...
Had a family day out at Lepe Beach and parked in the public car park near the Beach. Good opportunity for some photos. my son was parked next to me as he drove my Riley Elf there. Stood on the cliff for a while and watched people walking by the cars. Guess which one had most people looking at...
Started with 400 grit wet and dry, then 800 grit and final of 1200 grit to get round of small scratches and then final wet 1200. All of these were by hand. Then polished with dremel with polishing attachment and rubbing compound. Final polish with solvol autosol. I guess it took about 4 hours.
Why? Could have bought a decent Williams or two.

 Finished polishing my fuel rail guard today after losing interest and fingerprints a couple of months ago. Just need to finish the plenum and then get the engine cover back from the painter.
Certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone to try doing this themselves if they haven't got...
Went for the legal font, size and spacing myself, just liked the look of those pressed plates. Bought mine off Europl8 on Ebay and needed some new plates for the personal registration. This worked out cheaper than going to Halfrauds anyway.
