I had to drive through a small flood in july (crappy english weather) and it ripped the plastic radiator protector off. Went back on easily though, only went through very slow aswell.
Well since he wrote off his mini in the wet i don't think it could be much worse.
Well obviously it could but once bitten.... I know that i am 100 times more careful in the wet after my accident last winter.
It probly gets better mpg than the mini, you once got about 16mpg out of it didnt u?
Sounds like a good day, glad to see most cars back in one piece its easy to get carried away on great roads and in the wet isnt the time for it.
A summer one would be good.
Where you in a ZS yeh? which model is it mk5 or mk6 sorry to hear this mate.
Looked like you guys had fun, shame about the weather, i'd of understeered off a cliff with my budget tyres :o they don't like the wet.
The 2.0 8v is only 115bhp its not worth it in a mk2 imo. Can you not do a 1*2 engine conversion, insurance etc will be similar as the 2.0 8v conversion. Also a 1*2 conversion will sell much better than a 2.0 8v conversion, tbh i can't see anyone buying a 2.0 8v conversion as its only 5 bhp more...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Yeh single box will be good jord. What exhaust did it have on the doner car, it sounded nice when whinston had it at the warrington meet.
Some 172's where fitted with standard renault dials imo. Absolutely shocking by renault imo, utter negligance to fit a top of the range car with dials that are inadiquate because the rev limiter is higher than the dials read.
To the actual question 90 in 3rd sounds about right judging by vids...
Fair point and this is the route i am taking but you could then say when you get a sport don't mod it because you can save up and get an RS meggy, then EVO, then Ferrari.......
Reversible tasteful mods arnt a problem imo. f0xy has his car from highly modified to completely standard (bar cup...
Not bad atall mate. Would have gone 3 door personally.
Also renault are one of the more safetly driven car makers, nearly every car they make is 5* NCAP
Very nice addition mate. i supose it was money that was the reason they wern't standard.
It seems a step back that back in 2001 the RS clio (172 PH2) came with xenons but now in 2008 its an optional extra, not good imo.
I'd get coilovers and either a 3.5" recessed (cut into bumper) or stealth exhaust.
Wish i'd have got a 1.4 tbh a 33% more power than the 1.2 which is a fair bit.
lol @ the full fat police, we all know what people mean when they say 172FF even though it may be correct. Dr Rollo has it pretty much spot on though.
What about a 182 with only one of the cup packs then is it a 182 F then?
Mine doesnt crunch anymore i've got used to it now, it was just when i first got the car it was a bit strange. On cold mornings my gearbox is always a bit stiff though.
Get a 182, new cars are a bad call in todays market. I wouldnt buy a new car for many many years anyway because you can get such good deals on 2nd hand cars. I got my 1.2 (55 plate) when it was 22 months old, 29.5K with optional AC for £3500, new it was circa £9.5K
Hmm its a tough one, personally i'd have the clio, in all reviews etc the renaultsport has always come up better than the ST whether it be 182 or 197. Although the PH1 even though it is a realy nice car is a little dated especially inside, so if you fancy a more modern car then go for the ST...
Shouldnt be a problem mate as long as serviced etc, the only problem is resale value will take a big hit because there will be loads of 03 Dynamiques around with 40-60K on them.
They should be fine aslong as they're properly maintained so FSH is a must. Also a point to consider is the early ones (04 plate) are now coming towards 5 years old so will need a cambelt doing very soon and this is a £500 job. By all accounts they should be more reliable than the 106 gti, its a...
Shame its a ball ache to tune isnt it. I mean the engine in the saxo vts/106 gti engines tune realy well with just breathing mods for instance but overall the renault engine is probably more tunable.
