Yes around 800 is normal - the rev counter isnt accurate enough to say its 800 anyway, but yes just under 1000 rpm is normal. They also can run a little lumpy also.

I wouldnt bother, the ph1 cat is pretty free flowing as it is, and with a decent exhaust (read Yozza) it will be very nice sounding but not too loud,

To be fair Danny it drove fine at all throttle openings, as I did 6000 miles with it ITB'd with the only issue being stabbing the throttle with the car in neutral - it would sometimes slightly stutter. When in gear the onnly issue was very sharp opening at very low revs would stutter a slpit...
