Twas mine :)
was on 138k when i sold it, and 195bhp.
As long as it is in good condition and good history, with all the usual bits like cambelt done then it should be ok.
IMO these engines don't loosen up properly until higher miles, all the quick ones are over 80k
Yeah looking forward to getting the cage and dash in, as it will be a big step, though iv got a load of wiring to sort and move before the dash is going in :)
Iv also been doing some thinking, and over the past 6 months on and off iv been looking back at my old itb design, and iv come up...
how old are your old plugs mate? really want to be changing after 30k or so (Renault say 72k but iv never had a set last that long) as it could be your old set are not good either.
Lol just a bit ;)
Hoping to have the cage out at the weekend, weather depending, then strippage of the shell through the week, shell gone next weekend, then strippage of mine the following week and then cage in :)
Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118
looks tidy mate :)
The standard ECU is a very good bit of kit, although not optimised yet im not suprised it feels good - even when I itb'd mine it ran ok on the standard map, and the ecu managed to adjust enough to keep it safe.
First things first, get rid of those plugs.
The F4R needs very specific plugs, they are NGK PFR6E-10.
I have used Bosche standard, and super 4's in my youth in my previous 172 and gave the exact symptoms as you are having now - until Fred (BTM performance) gave me an internet slap and I got...
that was in piss poor light in my garage which has 1 window the size of a matchbox lol (will PM you shortly btw x)
very glad the whole dash is done, will look good once in
Generally speaking, you may fetch a few bhp. The matched inlets should make it feel better, although it depends how bad you're current inlets are - the quality of how the upper and lower sections differ from car to car.
All in all, you may get the stated bhp, but the car should be nicer to...
Done plenty of times, saying is it worth it depends on your own preferences, bear in mind you would be fitting a much older design of engine, carb fed, and you would most likely want it rebuilt - but it would get you 170odd bhp quite easily, personally iv found a f7p is lovely with a decent...
If it was my money my list would be:
Sportlines with Koni shocks
Brembo HC with Ds2500 (or equivalent)
Steering wheel (dished so I cant get in a better driving position)
Decent seat (reclining due to not having a cage) with harness
For good, cheap fun I think thats about all you need in a...
Cheers mate :)
lol cheers fella, not the first time iv been called mental - you should come into Russ world - it's great :D
Gotta try it, but im pretty sure it will fit :)
Twas, though thats not how I knew about lol, and it was in a barn, so im classing it as a barn find, lol
Will be using as much of it as I can, also has front subframe, wishbones and ARB and rear axle on it
Yeah it is save-able, but its too much work for me who only has a garage 2ft wider than the car to work in lol
I guess you could call in a barn find mate! :D
As said 5w40 is what Renault recommend and is a good grade to stick with.
You want fully sythetic, and any decent named brand would be fine, but if you want the next step up something like titan Pro S is an ether based oil and is very good.
Funnily enough Dan, that is an idea iv had, iv got a guy who is doing the welding for me so will be talking it through with him before I do anything :)
Been there for a long time :D
Im not sure how its coming out yet mate, most of it will have to be dismanted but I have inspected this and although it might not look pretty it's bloody strong lol
I would have liked to buy a new cage, but as this is a budget build I need to go with what I can...
