Thanks it really was unplanned , as I had sold off or given away/ binned most of my clio spares .
Luckily its still looking to come in under budget even with having to buy some extra parts and have a bumper sprayed.
Roll bars have now arrived 2 months after ordering so will hopefully get these fitted before the next time out on track on the 24th, interested to see how much of a difference they make as that will then be the full corneringforce suspension package fitted .
Im also having bad thoughts of...
Are the Grams the springs that Kam racing are selling ? Really not sure what the plans are for this , but if its going to be used on the road wouldn't want it too hard just lowered a little mainly for looks.
Not sure what happened with the towing company and the old owner.
My old clio was track only so had AST's and other coilovers on it , all i had heard about springs only were cooksport,cooksport.... never looked into any other options.
If I do keep it it wouldnt be a daily as have the X5 for...
These are the only pics i have on my phone at work , the rest went on a pen drive showing the new engine going in and timing belt being fitted . Including a video of the horseshoe going back in after rotating , knowing how people are so scared of timing these engines.
I somehow ended up with another clio a few weeks ago in a totally unplanned deal.
A mate that had owned this RB full fat for the last 9 years as a daily driver ,gave me a shout to see if i knew anyone that would be interested in it and the rest is history
The car had timing belt and...
Had to look these up myself today as Im doing the same job tomorrow
Crank bolt 40Nm + 110 deg
Tensioner 28Nm
Inlet pulley 120Nm
Exhaust pulley 30Nm + 86 deg
Idler pulley 55Nm
Didd my first tacky yesterday in this car :)
Was good fun but the car definitely needs the roll bars as the springs are a bit soft causing roll in the corners.
Rolly
Hard on the brakes at end of the straight chasing the GT3
Yip I was fairly shocked at the weight as the clams are very light. It does have fulll touring pack so stereo, ac, extra sound deadening.
I originally wanted a S1 as they are a lot lighter to start with, and actually prefer the looks.
I had heard about these engines breathing heavy so thought i would be better to fit catch cans if I'm going to track it , went with Sector11 quick cans.
Look to be well thought out as far as separation but not overly impressed with the fit, I'm not sure if there as meant for NA cars as one of...
When I bought the car I new the previous owner had the Nitrons revalved and spring rates change by corneringforce , what I didnt know was this was only part of the package it should have had.
The package Corneringforce had put together was meant to run adjustable front and rear roll bars ...
Thanks the floor is starting to sow its age now, really need to have a clear out then pressure wash the floor. I now have a pit to use and big shed so shouldn't need to work on cars as much in my garage.
Thanks
I'm looking forward to the better weather and actually getting some use out of it , a mix of crap weather and being away so much with work means I've only did a couple of hundred miles in it :(
Can tell its going to be fun but definitely need ear plugs on a longer run with the...
It is fairly huge but actually not too bad on the road I clear the same speed bumps that I did in the Porsche. The splitter leads onto a full flat floor and rear diffuser. I now have the mid tray fitted under the engine with naca ducts to feed air to the sump and gearbox.
As above really with things offshore still having no security , i decided to pull some cash out of cars. This is still fun and gives me something to mess around with but as you say its no Porsche.
Tried something a little different on the front , mainly to cover up a bit of damage to the front splitter from where it has hit the road not sure if i like it or not .
The colour was the main thing that attracted me to the car , which is weird as don't really like BRG .
Had the car out today and happy to say the front end no longer flexes and hits the road and can now stand on the splitter .
Ive still to make two little trim pieces for the side of the boot...
Oil cooler is now fitted in the nearside rear , I will monitor temps and if needed vent the arch liner to increase flow.
Gauges now fitted and wired
Ive also added extra bracing to the front splitter as it was flexing above 80mph and actually hitting the road, I also had to modify a front...
So today the car came to bits, and is now in the rebuild stage complete with now having a boot/storage space .
Looks cool with the roof off.
Rear spoiler, roof and rear clam removed
Rear storage box , front is covered in a double layer of heat barrier with around 2" of clearance from the...
Thanks I have a feeling its going to take a while to get use to but going to be a fun little car to own.
Just had it aligned this morning , going for a mid point between road and track also had it weighed and its heavier than I thought it would be at 915kg with full fuel :fearscream:
Over the...
