least its not scraped the quarter as well.... just got to look at it like it could be much worse... plus silver is forgiving when painted.... just get it to a good bodyshop and get that bumper painted..... really sorry though buddy... people can be so inconsiderate.
you can't have it removed from the register.... unless you want to lose it for 6 months... after which it won't be on the register but it will appear as an import.
on the same basis people assume becuase their cars are hpi clear then they haven't had an accident... loads of hpi clear accident damaged cars can be bought from salvage vendors...
as above it also depends on the damage..... it could have been keyed on every panel and then it becomes a cat d...... could be way more reliable than buying a straight one....
is it leaking down the front of the bumper or from the back? ive got a couple of washers hanging round... spare anyway... if it needs a new washer ill take 6 quid for one...

remove front arch liner sections.... (6 screws in total) torx ones...
and the plugs that you need to shimmy out that hold it to the wheelarch
remove bolt on each side top bracket of bumper
remove 2 bolts holding undertray to subframe
then pull the bumper away from the wings (will click out)...
up to you really... i would fix it then claim on the insurance as you just pay the excess (on most fully comp policies) or you could have a new windscreen fitted... if you buy a used one from a breakers you will struggle to clean up the surfaces and get autoglass etc to fit it as its a lot of...
just wrap some electrical tape round it... im guessing the metal box was shorting it... then leave to box off or make some padding for that area... i doubt the problem will occur again....
is it rusted? or was it not shut properly? its mainly becuase the metal slide not locating against the part on the bonnet itself..... problem is the emergency hook parts (that holds it in the popped position) is a poor design and can't hold the bonnet at high speed... usually resulting in it...
