I took the door cards out yesterday to put some soundproofing in. When Id finished I had a look at the door pins to see how easy it would be to change them for metal ones. It seems you would have to cut the old ones off to fit the new ones.
Anyone here tried this??
Cheers

I think the older ones look awesome, especially the P1 with the dark blue paint and the Anthracite wheels.
The new ones do look a bit weird, I dont know what they were doing when they designed the front lights!!

So you really like these Pioneer Head Units then?!?!
ClioJohn - Ive looked at some of the Alpine units. I know theyre good quality and everything but I dont like the look of them to be honest, especially compared to the Pioneers.

Someone has mentioned on here before about there being a connector for them. However on mine (the older style) you can unclip the connector, it tells you on there which is the positive and which is negative. I then cut the wires at the connector and crimped some new connectors onto them and then...
Does anyone know if the new DEH6400 is any good. Its the one with the Indy Car and dolphin animations etc. I was thinking about getting it but In the latest Revs, they did a test on the MP3 equivalent and slated it.
Failing that can anyone recommend a decent HU for around £200.
Cheers
Rick
I dont know about the newer models but definately on mine you have to cut it off with a knife. Even after that youve then got to get this stupid plastic thing off that goes over the top of the gear stick. I had to use a hacksaw on that!

Thanks for the advice people, but Ive managed to trace the problem back to some faulty RCA leads, so Ive got some new ones now and all the interference has gone.

Im fitting an amp into my RT at the moment (but as youll see on another thread its not quite going to plan!). Running the power cable is fairly simple on this car as there is a perfect spot in the bulk head that pops out at the corner of the dash that you can run the cable through.
Its worth...
The amp is mounted in the boot. It was difficult to find a earth, but I losened off one of the seatbelt mounts and filed off the paint overspray so that there was a good contact. However because the connection at the end of the earth cable has quite a small loop in it I couldnt put the bolt...
Ive just fitted a two channel amp into my car. However when I switch it on, it hisses really badly and then pops when I actually start the engine. Ive run the RCA cables and the power cable down the same side of the car, could interference from the power cable be affecting the sound signal...
This sounds pretty similar to the standard system, in that Ive got a pipe running straight from the airbox that buggers off into the front bumper somewhere.
Ive also got a flexible pipe that runs from the exhaust heat shied into the airbox. Would it be better to take this off and route a new...
Nick, can you explain to me why an Induction Kit reduces the power. Or is it just a case of it moving the power band up the rev range therefore making it less usable.
Thanks
Rick
Ive got an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side door when I crank the stereo up a bit and its really starting to piss me off!
Anyway Im going to take the door card off and totally sound proof the inside and make sure that none of the trim is loose. Has anyone else done this before on...
It seems a bit clumsy to fit at first but you soon get used to it. The only thing you have to watch is the locking bar which you have to lift up to open it. This can sometimes tap the windscreen but it doesnt damage it. I havent noticed any damage to the steering wheel either, there are some...
Ive got a dislok aswell. Theyre absolute beasts which means they are a bit difficult to store (i store mine under the passenger seat) but they are really solid.
Its a bit expensive but it is generally regarded as the best mechanical deterent you can buy. Having said that £80 aint much when...
Does anyone know if these are any good, I was looking in a mag this morning and it worked out cheaper to get four of these shocks and some separate springs rather than get a full kit.
I think Ive read a post on here a while ago about them but I cant remember if it was saying that they would...
Brun, from looking at some of your recent threads it looks like your doing what Im gonna do in the next couple of months, i.e get it lowered and slap some 15s on. Id be grateful if you could get some pictures up when you get your suspension done so I can have a look.
Cheers

I would have thought they would fit but the outer diameter of the tyre in that fitment is a lot bigger than the standard tyre. This might make the ride a bit less comfortable and the speedo will be out by a bit.
Im going for 195/45 15 tyres and these are still going to be slightly bigger than...
Hi Mate, I havent actually had mine done yet but I got a quote for around £140. I put a post on here seeing how much everyone else paid and the prices ranged from about £80-£200. I think it just depends on who you go to.
As for recommending anyone, I got told that most garages would be able to...
alex, the headunit is a poor Sony one. Its got a max output of 4x50W but as its the budget model I think they overlooked actual sound quality in the name of big numbers. I read somewhere that the RMS output was more like 4x26W.
Will upgrading to a better head unit give better sound quality...
I want to know if I should bother amping all my speakers (coaxials in the doors, 6x9s in the rear shelf) in order to really boost the sound level, or whether just doing the 6x9s will improve the sound enough.
Also Ive been thinking about getting a sub and amp. If I end up with two amps do you...
No not to clean up any dubious stains!!!!!
Its for the hard moulded plastic around the footwell and near the bottom of the door. Theres quite a lot of dirt thats built up on it and hot soapy water doesnt seem to be doing the job.
Any suggestions??
Rick
Whats the going rate for a professional job on the side and back windows? Ive been thinking about getting a light smoke tint on mine or a while but never got round to it.
Also, I know this might sound stupid, but does the car get really hot inside on a sunny day when youve got tints?
Rick
Whatever you do practice on loads of spare bits first.
Are you planning on painting a bodykit or the car itself?
Either way preparation is the key. Make sure the surface is flat with no dips in where you pressed too hard on the wet dry paper. Make sure you use white spirit and a tack cloth...
