Installing ice.

A few questions for you ice expert.
1. what are tweeters and how/where are they fitted?
2. How easy is it to fit an amp, tweeters, head unit and 6x9s?
3. Would it be better to get a shop to fit it all as im buying it all second hand?

I think thats all for now.

Thanks alot for any help.

have a bash yourself, its how i learnt about cars etc. Tweeters bang out the high freq vocals etc theyre norminally located on top of the dash (about 1inch dia)

Head unit is easy to do even if youre a complete plonker like me!!!! Amp + 6x9s - the hardest part is getting the powercable from the engine bay, through the bulkhead and into the car (someone on here will tell you exactly where to poke it through)

You say you want to fit tweeters (im guessing youll be replacing the door speakers as well??? I.e. components??? This can be a bit ticky, but if youre a very calm person youll be ok!!!

I think the standard tweeters on the RT are located under the side air vents???? (im not sure though, ive never really looked)

Im fitting an amp into my RT at the moment (but as youll see on another thread its not quite going to plan!). Running the power cable is fairly simple on this car as there is a perfect spot in the bulk head that pops out at the corner of the dash that you can run the cable through.

Its worth having a go yourself, Ive never installed an amp before, and although Ive got a few issues, I think I know where the problem is. If its a three door then you can take the rear seats out pretty easily which makes the job easier.

Fitting the head unit and front speakers is fairly easy, its just a case of having the patience.

As fred says, the tweeters are in the dash, Ive got coaxials in mine, not components (which have the seperate tweeters) it looks pretty easy to run the cables through the door though.

If all else fails, get someone else to do it, but it will be v. expensive (places like Halfods charge £30 just to fit a head unit, which is only a ten minute job).
