I just give the car a good QD after, if you have done lots of correction, a quick wash is quicker sometimes.

My choice of attack would be Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner, acid free so fairly paint friendly. Will not dull the finish like acid based products. I used some of the trade version almost neat today on the GTi and it still left paintwork looking glossy and the dirt ran off.

Any wheel cleaners will be fine, most factory finished wheels are wet painted just like the bodywork. Hence they always look so much better than Powdercoated refurbs.

Crap edges though.

The main difference I noticed driving a Cup packed 182 compared to a normal phase 2 172, was the handling, performance wise very little in IMO.

What do you mean painted alloys ? All alloys from the factory are painted in Basecoat and Lacquer just like your bodywork

I use the Duragloss Wash. Microfibers a mixed bunch really, Poorboys DMT's, Sonus Der Wunder Buffing Towels and Pakshak Ultra Plushes.

After claying - be aware it is quite a harsh product and will need to be followed up with a milder polish after.

Would be suprised if you payed more than 100 for a bodyshop to do it.

When they finish they tend to leave things even worse than when they started! God knows what paint they use ? When they made a hash of my old 205 GTi he wiped the paint right off ?!?!?

Yeap only as good as the guy doing the work.

Normally the opposite in my experience all the ones round here are shite ! For a touch more money you while get it done properly by a bodyshop.

Tried an abrasive type polish like Autoglym Glass Polish yet ? Flat Stanley blade to scrape it off ?

Vics Concours or R222 are the best reasonable priced wax out there for Blues.
