Hammerite smooth is fine - they do 2 gold Hammered finished Gold or Smooth Finish Gold - the later is quite subtle and matches the gold some calipers come from the factory.
With you, chances are it will have been wet flatted and polished after he had painted it. Is he testing at Combe at the weekend?
One of the Glazes I mentioned above will make the paint look ace for pictures.
AG SRP is not a good choice for the first few weeks as it contains protective qualities. Definitely no polishing by Mr Kift ? very rare to see a prefect gloss and finish straight out the gun, but I could be wrong on that one.
Polishing itself is not a problem, waxing and sealants are where you...
With what you have you don't need to add much. The Autoglym Pair will work well on the paintwork, top that with a wax that looks good on Blue and you will be good.

If you don't like EGP in use get a something as good but in an easy use spray on and wipe off version - http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/jeffs-werkstatt-acrylic-jett-trigger-protect.html
I can apply 3 coats in the time it takes me to do one of EGP, no cure times or waiting between...
