Doubt it. Theyve already managed to squeeze out 20hp more than the same block on a 172 so without major mods your not gonna get much.
Induction, decat and remap I bet is your lot.
The resistor is easy to fix and will be what is causing the full speed.
Take it apart (it's under the windscreen wipers drivers side) scrape the sticky stuff off around the large chip, get the code off it and order from from rs components (cost about 3 quid) and solder the new chip in. I used...
Thanks Steve.
Final question.
Are the febi ones designed to work with the old style 17mm and spacer or the new style spacer nut? As it doesn't look as though they come with the spacer from the pic
Thanks Steve. Clears it up!
Are the parts interchangeable? Ie will the new spacer nut fit on my old mounts but still allow me to do away with the 17mm and separate spacer without having to buy complete new mounts?
I'm confused by this.
If the new design does away with the 17mm nut holding the bearing etc to the spring, what holds all the assembly together when your fitting them back into the car?
I seem to remember when I did mine it was shock, spring, metal spring top, then the bearing sits inside the...
I thought not.
Don't they have to tweak, test, read, tweak test read etc. Where on a live map they get live data and can adjust as they go?
That was my interpretation anyway, but I'll let the expert settle it lol
I was having a look on his site the other day and there was a bit in bold that said maps are not locked unless requested by the user to stop dealers overriding the map.
Yeh I get the whole live map thing especially if the cars got proper upgrades like cams etc.
Also, im pretty sure the stock...
To be fair though the rs tuner isn't a bad map on a near standard car. Much better warm up behaviour and slightly better power band. Plus the added bonus of a basic but upgradable diagnostics kit.
Fair enough.
I just expected more from a 1.4. I've been averaging 37 in my 172 and that's just a 5 mile commute no motorways.
But yeh the engine is really poor, should have got the diesel
Got the wife a mk3 2006 which is used for a 15 mile each way motorway journey capped at 60mph and it's returning about 35mpg which is way less than my 172.
Is this normal and the engine is just shocking? Or should I be looking at giving it a major service and probably a new lambda?
Title...
Straight swap then. Should be easy enough. Like I say, hardest part is taking the tension off the belt. I usually use a nice big jubilee clip around the tensioner as I haven't got the fancy tool or made my own.
Itl be difficult swinging the alternator back in place with taking the tension off...
Id probably use it again but for the sake of 20 quid it might be worth chucking a new one on.
Fairly simple job once you've worked out how to detension the belt with a jubilee Clip as getting a tool in there other than the proper serpentine tool is more or less impossible
Today my car decided it didn't want to start. Cranked it for about 10 seconds each time and then on the 4th attempt it decided to fire and ran perfectly fine.
When this happened on my old 182 it was the crank sensor so o thought I'd just try another for the sake of 30 quid but I've noticed...
