Yrh I'd get a second opinion first , my ex once got a diagnostics man to find a fault with her Clio, he said a new ECU was required and so did Renault, I had a look and all that was wrong was the wiring from the tdc was shot. New sensor and wiring and all was good.
I'm sure the box for my NGK prf6e10's did say on the box finger tight then quarter a turn.
I wasn't happy with that so tested with a torque wrench and they were pretty much bang on.
cool cheers guys.
yeah, i may have to start it every now and again to hear some exhaust noise lol, ill be fed up of this tractor sounding 307 hdi soon enough lol.
Im going to store my clio on the drive for the winter under a cover untill i can be bothered to take my box off and send it away to agency due to whining bearings.
Is there anything i should do to prep the car before hand?
Ie, hand brake off
should i jack it up to take some pressure off the...
id say thats a good price, even on a 1.2 its still a fairly lengthy job.
But yeh a clutch change is no specialist job, i managed it on my 182 in a weekend off and im no mechanic.
My 182 box did this once, so I put a big screwdriver above the selector lever to pull it down towards 5th, then tapped it up towards reverse and that freed it off and its been perfect ever since
id change the thermostat anyway as they are cheap and should be changed regular anyway, and then the temp sensor if its stil having the issue.
The map is changed by the water temp so if its reading wrong itl stay on the cold map
Yeh the driver weights about 18kg and the 2.5cuft box is about 12kg.
Then the 2kw amp is about 10kg but I haven't took that out yet.
I doubt its the extra load the sub puts on the alternator as I don't have it on loud at all anymore so it will be drawing minimal current.
Well 30kg is only...
Looked at my mpg calculator today and was expecting the usual 29mpg and to my surprise it said 37.
I took my sub out to go on holiday a few weeks back and haven't put it back in yet.
The sub in its box weighs about 30kg, is that enough weight to have a dramatic effect on mpg or is it more...
LOcal motor factors seem to Stock APEC brakes for a good price , any major benefits to getting OEM over the cheap?
The car is not driven hard at all, 4 miles a day, and the Clio seems really front brake heavy anyway.
Decat makes it rev a little free er apparently, can't say as I noticed much difference tbh, 2 reasons I run decat are 1 - my Renault cat won't deteriorate and rust as fast sat in my cupboard so I won't have to buy another when I need it, and 2 , i like it loud lol, but it does get annoying at...
Decat is easy peasy, takes about 15 minutes to swap over, and paired with a good exhaust is very nice sounding.
Remap will depend where you live, plenty of good mappers but ddont expect miracles, a couple of bhp extra at a push.
oh and i wedged a brick under the box once id placed it where i needed it so that i didnt need a second pair of hands whilst unbolting the pressure plate
didnt take it out, just removed the rads, battery tray, shafts etc, bottom top and dogbone mounts, unbolted the box and moved it all the way to the near side and this gave enough room to take off the clutch place.
I was going to take the box out the top but i gave up, its like a Chinese jigsaw...
how about a open cone filter? That'l beef it up a little in the noise department and much easier than trying to find somebody to make a straight through pipe for the exhaust
