I went to see a 106 GTi in a dealer Derby and he said lots of southeners go up to buy the cheaper northern cars ... I told him I was not southern.

Get a few layers of the AJT on then wax and then you should see a few months of protection. That said my Silver daily drive is still beading well with only one coat of AJT and a coat of Zymol Titanium applied last September. Has had a couple of coats of spray wax on after a wash and thats it lot.
Menzerna tends to yeild better results for me. Most Menzerna problems occur on The Rotary not the DA, cold on the DA just means long long work times.
I use the full range of Sonus pads, Menzerna Polishing Pads and a few LC Finishing Pads.
If you paint is in good shape just use either the SRP or Lime Prime. For an outdoor kept car the SRP is beneficial as it lays down some protection of its own.
