The only difference between a UK 172 and an import 172 is the UK 172 comes with an alarm, the import just has the immoboliser.. but thats a good thing cause it means you can fit an aftermarket alarm. Standard alarms usually suck anyway, and a lot of people have had trouble with the standard unit.

It depends on what make of unit you go for, alpine, sony etc will work with an adapter, others wont as there is no adapter available.

My god those dealer dont half spraff a load of crap.. my 172 is an import and I have had no more problems than people on here with a UK 172.

Lee I went to put a coin in the little slit to twist it out and the thing practically popped out in my hand as I was doing it, I didnt hold out much hope of it staying in for very long but 6 months later its still there.

You could buy a better system than renualt supplies.. but it would be factory.. so will look out of place with the rest of the car.. I had a sat nav system in my car (aswell as an xbox) but it means fitting one of the flip out screens.. unless you just want voice guidance with simple arrow...

You have to buy a Cup brakelight, the 172 one will fit the v6, 172, renault double spoiler, but not the Cup. Think it is about 17-18 quid.

Yes, You have to get the V6 boot struts aswell to stop the boot opening too much and hitting the roof aerial.

The Cup is a deffo no no as far as future classic goes, the V6 might be, the williams already is...

so all we need is a mk1 172 chasis, strip it bare and attach mk2 172 bodywork, then change the box for a sequential... et voila.. Cup racer.

Why ??, no offense to cup owners but they are crap, if I had a Cup I would do what most of them do, chuck em and put some proper bucket seats in.

Not suprised really though are you.. even I knew they wouldnt fit parts they dont sell, one they dont want to take the risk of damage to your car and two they dont make as much profit. Just go to a back street garage and get it fitted there.

Back on topic.. You can get a 172 for about 12,000 (if you can find one) you might not be able to get an import 182 (at least not to begin with) so would have to pay nearer 14,500 worth thinking about...

Longer gearing.. that will kill acceleration will it not ? remember the mk1 172 in 5th.

Ye I had to wait for them to order mine in.. as with most things I have bought from renault.

You can only buy the hole thing. its about £5 and you have to remove the bumper. I looked at the washer.. looked at the bumper.. though f**kit and whipped the ball out the new one and popped it in the old one, been in there for over 6 months now.. no probs..
