True, but givin that the R-sport ECU was initially popular because of the belief that your warranty would remain, the best option is now gonna be the unichip or similar, especially if you do any mods.
Also, cant see from the pictures, but it looks like he has taken the 10amp fuse out completely too, again not a very wise idea.. the fuse is there for a reason..
Easiest Way for you to do it would be to use Slayers evox installer, you just chuck in the dvd-r (or CD-RW) with the software on it and boot from it, it will display a menu to backup your old installation and install the new evox dash, when you boot from the slayers disk it will also load an ftp...
If you listen to the exhaust it should sound a bit lumpy yes.. thats the nature of the slightly wild cams in the engine. If you look at the rpm on the dash it shouldnt be fluctuating much, if at all.
Best try to run it on super or optimax as that is what renault recommends and you really arnt...

Ye its probably the alternater belt slipping. Happens in cold/wet weather sometimes, if it gets bad you may need to move the alternator to tighten the belt.
