don't see why not - providing they clamp the boot effectively and don't have any tabs sticking out that might foul the hub carrier/etc, then should be fine i'd have thought
i've got two theories on this: either people buy them without really knowing what they're about and decide they can't live with them or the car's been dinged&repaired or has got other problems that owners have spotted and don't want to fix up (less likely IMO).
at a guess, i'd say that the yellow bit you've got left there was a part of the gearknob. they usually twist off although it might be extremely stiff - have you tried that?
yes - i ended up looking it up on Google. i'd not spotted that this was actually in the Photography sub-forum originally; as you say, it's all been very confusing. i'll leave you to it now. sorry:o :D
P.S. Fierney - Morrisons is actually only over the road from B&Q but these are special bulbs...
this only dawned after i first posted but i think they're talking about a camera/photographic shop.
by the way, i went to B&Q again today; bought some bulbs.:)
once you've got the cluster off the car, the plastic bulb carrier unclips from the lens assembly - there are four plastic clips (on the lens moulding) that need bending out carefully. there's a rubber seal between the two assemblies in the face of the bulb carrier which may be causing the two to...
if they are shot, your best bet is probably going to be second hand. try here: http://www.renault-spare-parts.com/.
if you're spanner-friendly, they're not very difficult to fit; otherwise, a garage would probably charge you a couple of hours labour.
they're perfectly safe providing they're decent stands, on solid level ground and are positioned properly. just be careful if you need to be thumping things (eg. undoing hub nuts, etc) as that could upset things if you're not sensible
^so, it *has* to be purple and headroom's not an issue?
i'd say go with that too - not what you want to hear but it's mighty sensible. what are your parents suggesting?
there are actually two gearbox mounts - one under the battery tray and one underneath the gearbox itself - in addition to the dogbone and the top engine mount - so that's four in total. have another look on search as there are some useful diagrams out there.
as well as uprated dogmount bushes...
depends upon the accuracy of the @thewheels figure you've got and whatever transmission losses might be involved - 15% *might* be a reasonable assumption
i think it's the discs that cost the money:dapprove:
try GSF and ECP though - i don't know if either sell them (would have thought so though) - they're likely to be amongst the cheapest and best quality and you might have a branch of one or t'other fairly local to you
you probably get what you pay for but, if it helps, these were the cheapest bullet cams i could find when i was looking some time ago: http://www.henrys.co.uk/cctv/bullet.htm
i didn't bother in the end so can't comment on quality
was looking for a modern replacement for my 205 GTi and understood that the RS was as close as you could get. having been underwhelmed by the Cooper S and disliking the delivery of the VTEC engines, there wasn't any competition really.
yours sounds normal chap - the Clio's pedal is certainly stiffer and the take-up sharper than in the Polo and the Golf i drive regularly - don't think you've anything to worry about:)
