how are you going to get it behind the grille? I think you have to cut through the plastic bit I mentioned. I think Roamers fitted one nicely, but hes actually cut through the grille. The one thing I cant understand on his picture is that the gille continues right to the end of the bottom...
You can pass a pipe from the viper IK straight down and cut a 75mm diameter halfcircle in the plastic panel that forms a side of the airbox housing the bottom half of the radiator. The 75mm pipe sits neatly through that hole, right behind the front grille. You can apply some sealant around the...
cant use a backbox and no induction kit... not much left. Why cant you change backbox? you can probably get yourself a second hand one for the price of a new air filter?
BenR, yes I imagine the 180 trumpets cant be as good as straight ones. Do you have any links to reading material on TB setup pros/cons etc, Im interested to learn more about the effect of trumpet lengths, manifold setup, injector size etc. etc. before I start looking at TBs. Also if I have my...
yeah I only use johnsons baby oil in my cup.. and I skip breathe to help with the weight (Im a diver so I have a head-start over the rest of you landlubbers)
Gary, Ive checked several times with r-sport and my reno dealer. Although the r-sport ecu is a reno group N ecu, it will NOT be covered by reno warranty if you fit it to your cup.
Ive decided to go for a unichip which is reprogrammable for further mods, but costs 200 squids more than a...
Thats the spirit. There are so many mods you can do to the car , and for all budgets from a tenner to ten grand. I find that a nice little mod-a-month keeps the excitment going and makes the cup unique. One of the cheapest and most cost effective mods is the cliosport sticker when you become a...
haha youve been conned like the rest of us. Did he tell you about the brakes too? - Wahahhahhahhaaaaa - No such things exist. Several threads on the subject: youll have to get that stuff from elsewhere.
If you wanted a proper race cup, the only place to get them is direct from Renaultsport in...
the TB trumpets sitting above the exhaust manifold isnt a good idea. I recently saw an ad in CCC for 180 degree trumpets that will allow you to have them facing forward with a proper filter. That should give you quite a few extra bhp. Looks mint otherwise. How much did u spend on your mods and...
Im driving first thing tomorrow morning from London to K-tec in Devon, down the M3 etc. Planning to be at K-tec 9-ish, i.e 7.30 ish start. I presume youll all still be in bed at that time of day, otherwise would happily share the M3 with a few other clios.. Mind you Ill be driving back up before...
yes roamer, cough up or well beat it out of you . ND Hill maybe? (he he I know Nick was sniffing around Jenveys re developing a manifold). Ill report back after my trip to K-tec re head and new zorst
good points Rob. None of us can speak for day to day driveability with TBs on Clios - unless Roamers finally fitted his:D. Youre probably right that consumption and slightly worse reliability may be an issue, but Ive been emailing a few very happy TB clio users abroad who have very complex mods...
Rob and Frosty: You were agreeing - little scope for an argument then;)
My reno dealer obviously isnt up to speed, it would be nice to get a letter from reno saying group N ecu is approved under warranty.
In any case, I still wouldnt put it in as the guys at R-sport said it couldnt cope with...
Frosty, the R-sport group N ECU is not aproved - I was at my Renault dealer again yesterday and they confirmed that although it is a reno ECU, fitting it on a cup will invalidate ECU-related warranty issues which could be anything!
mo--. Like the rest of us you will have to make that decision...
172man if you get the whistling with the windows down around 6000 revs - thats normal! all 172s do it. I checked a number of forums to understand what it was and some people suggest its a noise coming from the injectors working overtime??? (Im not mechanically enough minded to know if its B/S or...
ok, in order
- Ben S: TBs not for road use: Agree with you, thats double bo**ocks. Guys in France have been driving on a technomap 220 bhp kit for ages and that includes TBs, ported/flowed head, new cams, cat bypass etc etc and theyre well happy with the cars. A proper TB conversion should...
why do you want to raise the limiter? Its usually set beyond the point at which your car is not producing its peak power and usually way past the point its producing its peak torque. The only reason I can think of is to avoid changing gears in mid corner.
Anyway, modifying your ECU will do the...
Hi, for what its worth Ive decided to do the following mods on my cup: k-tec "quieter" exhaust this saturday, Magnex dont do one for the Mk2/cup. Followed by BMC CDA direct induction (because I like the look of it better than the pipercross viper) which I should get in two weeks, followed by...
thats the noise Im getting from behind my dash board every time I rev past 3000, very noticeable at 5000. It sounds like its coming from behind the dash somewhere between the tweeter and the air vent. I removed the light level adjustment panel to have a look behind the dash to see if anything...
Sunflower it is then although I could swear it was making a chirping noise. Hmmm, you must know my wife. Both of you seem to practice the same form of gentle (life threatening) persuasion... 31st of (May?) at Southend? Im booked to have my Unichip fitted on the 30th. Ill try, although w/ends...
