Nice one Roamer. keep the info coming. Given that we may have to wait 2 months for head/cams, maybe your TB conversion will be in by then?
ps. no aircon pipes for me ;-) I would imagine a decent setup would involve lowering the radiator by a couple of inches or replacing it in order to make...
OOOaaah we could start quite a thread on clios for the wife etc. Wait till one of our clio girls joins the fray;)
My wife wouldnt touch the clio if it was the last thing shed do. But then again she doesnt need to .....
gonna have to go soon. hope the thread continues ..
Wahhahhaaha - Nice lively thread - Thank you CTR man, this was turning out to be a dull lunchtime. I particularly enjoyed the "wifes shopping car" bit. If only you knew ... he he
Hi, I think youll find just as many posts saying the CTR is a great car as posts having a go at it. Just put it down to healthy territorial banter about our cars ... Personally, I had my choice of cars and went for the cup because it is the nearest to a 205 1.9 GTI I had in 1987 = rattles/cracks...
Technomap who do a TB conversion on the clios achieve 220bhp which makes the cars faster than a mk1 v6. The new 255 bhp v6 would still have a power advantage although I dont know how much they weigh and I was disappointed to read about 5.8s on 0-60. A cup or mk1 172 on TBs will probably beat...
Been experimenting with my standard Contis. Went up to 35/33 front rear and the car is too fidgety. Currently running on 33/32 and seems ok, although I can get induce oversteer more easily with 33 on the rear. Havent tried 33/32 in the wet yet. wat pressures are you running on your cars?
Erm Ben, sending? I enquired direct to LAD by email re their conversion, and they sent me the email which I passed on. My email didnt mention anything about Cliosport, somebody elses posts nor that I was a member.
Come to think of it LAD must be checking the posts to know that I was a member...
Ive received a reply from LAD saying the head only costs £1200 vs what cc mag says. Also, theyve asked me to relay this message, prob to Tom? Anyway here goes.
"Philip
As we do not have access to the Clio Web site and after reading one of the comments printed I was surprised in that it...
Been through it Ben. I know your view that work on the head is a waste of money. I am waiting for k-tec to report back on results they get from their work on the head and make a decision then. There must be a useful bhp/£ step beyond exhaust/IK/chip but before going for TBs.
What do you make...
Any developments on the LAD front? I sent them an email earlier today to enquire. I am also waiting for K-tecs head which should be any time now. Technomap France provide a mod consisting of remap, cams, head, de-cat and they say that increases power to 192-5hp consistently. So, I really dont...
errm, re. HID being different from Xenon: nope
HID is the same as "xenon". HID is the correct name and stands for High Intensity Discharge. The term "Xenon" is losely applied to car lights because thats what people relate to. Xenon is one of many gase that can be used to fill the bulb and HID...
Thanks. Ill get a 90 degree 100mm silicone hose elbow tapering to 70mm to connect to my BMC and cut it to the correct length and keep the original reno hose in case I need to refit the original airbox. question is how to replace the thin sensor pipe that connects to the original one.
finally somebody bothers comparing bhp/ton and actual weight. Your stats show the M3 has the advantage although it has to shed half as much energy to stop given its weight.
Now a 200hp cup would be an other matter..
ok, the 90 degree black hose connecting the airbox to the main throttle body inlet. The end that connects to the airbox (or any replacement filter you happen to be using) is corrugated.
AnywayZ: Ze question iZ: can this hose be slightly shortened by about an inch so that my BMC CDA airbox...
Has anybody tried fitting a shorter hose between the TB and the airbox on a Mk2172/cup in order to get more room to properly fit an IK. The standard hose looks like it could lose about an inch? Also, anybody tried relocating some of the radiator hoses that are in the way if you try to drop an...
if you can, take them back and get a refund. I came across a website called rallyeusedparts where a guy has converted his 172 and is selling Xenons, front seats etc etc for very cheap. he probably has the wiring for them too..
