Return as faulty, due to the damage. Or you can contact their support and start the RMA process off, they will send a new one out, and then you have to send that back within 30 days as already said...
Tow it if you want true piece of mind imo.
It tends to be the aux belt that fails (and then takes out the cambelt), so you could inspect that before going out and if you drive it just drive carefully, but if it's going to go then it's going to go!

I remember seeing on the BMW's they were using glass cutters to cut a hole to get the ODB device in, probably do that still imo.
2 minutes is not long at all, I'd do 2 panels, then alternate between applying and buffing. Multiple layers should also help.
