Managed to get the aero clips on the bumper today. Started in daylight and ended in the dark again:confused:
Quickly clipped on the headlight washer blanks on but think I might remove them and paint them silver to match the car.
I've gone about rouge with the next bit! As mentioned a few...
I changed all 4 bushes to power flex bushes on the front anti roll bar on Friday. I imagine this would be easier on a ramp or with the whole subframe off the car but I gave up with the inner bushes tbh. It seams impossible to apply pressure and insert the screw/nut at the same time lying under...
Another day on the car, lots done but not much visually. Replaced all the brake seals. Turns out all the drivers side seals had melted. One of the pots was hard to remove and stuck so possible it was stuck on a bit? The difference in the pads from one side to the other is pretty big...
Result the paint man called yesterday and he has already finished the parts. Managed to pop over and get them this morning and loosely fit them to the car.
I'm over the moon with the colour match. I know matching fibreglass panels is hard work, especially when they didn't have the car...
Yeah but in I'm not committing to a time scale, we are almost 6 months into this year and it hasn't been near a track this year yet alone been on the road!
It felt like one step forward two steps back at the beginning of today. Manage to get the car out to finish off the hubs/brakes. It kept raining on and off making life hard. Sadly once the working on the calliper we found the seals to be toast.
This annoys me a bit as I want to start...
I can't comment on how they work as I haven't driven it yet! But they quality is superb and I have yet to read a negative comment about them!
They're not cheap but they don't wear and with the limited quantity of them I guess the resale value of them is high?
As I say to the wife, think of...
Hubs are on, again we would like to have gone further but although the car is in a garage it is/was chucking it down making it hard work.
The new discs are on and the studs were swapped over to the current hubs. Hope to get the new anti roll bar bushes on for Saturday and finish all...
So we are back to depressing car looking sorry for itself mode!
All the fibreglass parts are off and waiting to be dropped off for paint and as mention before the car has no front wheel assemblies.
So I thought I would get the runner gear back on last Friday. I tidied up the hubs ready...
Cheers great advice. This could have been an option last night as we had all the facilities to do this. No mater how hard I search on here (and google) not much came up on how to get them off but I presume they are the same on any mk2 clio, not just the 182?! Must be thousands out there
They are out! I can't believe how hard it was. In the end we had them in the vice and hammered from the other side. This cause the bearing skin to split by the smallest of margins to the hub. Once back in the press they started to push out at 5 tonne pressure.
Thanks all for your advice
Chris
Help! So we're trying to change the bearings on my car before I put my new suspension setup on. We have pushed the first section but but can't get the outer 'skin' out despite using 8 tonne of pressure from a press! What are we doing wrong?! Is there a trick we are missing?
Thanks in advance
Chris
These arrived today, some very shiny bits attached to some very rusty bits! Can't wait to get them on as once with they are on with all the other bits around them (new brake arrangement) I can tax and insure the car!
I've also just realised the engine in the car cost less than each one of...
A productive day again but a trip away next weekend and a busy period at work will slow things up for the next couple of weeks.
The passenger door card and window are now in which almost makes the interior complete. We'll sort of! There are a few wires that need sorting out from the front roof...
Another late night on the car but we are moving steadily forward.
Firstly I could look at the the new rear door cards in daylight. I'm happy with them.
The first plastic window is in. I used the centre mounting bar and fixed the clip that passes through the hole on the original glass...
Another late night, I think the neighbours think I'm crazy! The wiring harness is back in and clipped in, the rear door cards are in but best of all for the first time in 5 months the car has two permantly fixed in seats! The side mounting points have been adapted so they are both on their...
Took the masking tape off of the cage. When I took it off of the gearknob the leather came off 😂 Time for the PMS upgrade I think!
Also I have had a sort out of the internal wiring harness, the main reason being I don't want wires running across the car for no reason (not so much...
No worries! I didn't paint up to the masking tape. It was only there to stop drips/over spray etc. When the cage was fitted they painted a few inches around it. This made it a lot easier to pant!
One of the most tedious days of my life, masking off the cage then rubbing down the inside! However this has turned into a very satisfying day as the inside is now painted!
Before-
After-
I used silver smooth Hammerite. Rollered the flat bits and sprayed the corners. Cost...
There are a few Clios on this video from a track day I did. There really isn't much in the 172/182.
1min 50 sec - 2min 15 sec -182 vs 172 (it was a cup) side by side. Enjoy the 172 for what it it! I have Brembo 4 pots so was always going to brake last! If the camera could turn to the right...
