Cheers, it was a nice day out. I have never done one before so didn’t know what to expect!
Going to have to start saving for the LSD. I’m yet to hear a negative comet about them!
Thanks for organising!
Found out something new today, a standard Clio’s ECU pulls back the redline if the oil is cold by 200rpm. End result for me is I got 6 power runs!
So standard engine with a squashed exhaust and a home made induction set up...... 177bhp I’ll take that!
Thanks again
To bring to an end a busy week for the Clio we went to the group rolling road today. First of all it chucked it down on the way there resulting in the roof vent becoming a roof shower! Still we made good time and got there first.
Getting there first didn’t help as it turns out! After a golf...
Not! Came off a clio 182 race car on Monday.
It’s up to you. It’s more of a challenge with no ABS I suppose? I have abs still and don’t find it intrusive.
I have a secondhand engine with a home made induction kit (fatty with some add ons) and an exhaust off a rolled clio. I’ll just be happy to make it out the other side 😂
There's a couple on. More are coming. Yesterday was so sunny it's hard to see out when going towards the sun. In real life it was just as bad
This one was with my mate. There is a part two to upload. I need to invest in a second camera as he was begin me most of the time
This next one...
Amaizing day @ Bedford, mainly because my fiend turn up in this.......
Needless to say we spent all day battling with each other resulting in a couple of 'move apart' boards from the marshals :fearscream:
This was a tyre that came of the blue car (NS2Rs are fine on my car!)
Weathers was...
The night before the trackday.........:grimacing:
Got the Clio out to find out it's covered in dust again, so I dusted it! Checked all the levels and is all seams in order. Put some air in the tyres as they were down at 18psi from the last trackday. Then I managed to carry out a couple of jobs...
So this popped up on my YouTube feed....
Should be interesting................. or will it? So many have done this before.
£4K budget (inc car @ £850). I can relate to this as can many in here?
What would you do?
If I did it again (with their budget) it would be standard brake...
I run them and have no issue at all with them. I do run stupidly hard springs (650 front / 450 rear from memory) which makes road driving a bit hard! I've never driven a car with ASTs (or BCs) so can't compare. I did have Gaz topmounts but they were rubbish. I have PMS topmounts now. I paid...
A mechanic I have used for years (and still use!) Next time I will go to one of the specialists. Failed at rule No 1 of owning a Clio - Always use a specialist to change the cambelt properley!
Best - Brembo 4 pots, stopping power is awesome
Worse - well not the part or the result but fitting the inner power flex bushes to the front antiroll bar was so hard
Also worse that wasn't technically a mod was getting the cambelt changed for piece of mind when I brought the car. First time I...
Result, I convinced myself (and the wife!) I needed the ARB so an order was placed with PMS and the following day a 22mm antiroll bar arrived.
It wasn't suppost to rain today but shortly after the car was in the air it started to so up went the gazebo!
I opted for the rubber protectors for...
So this is stopping me working on and spending money on the clio at the moment....
Which as also made the clio look like this
Time to clean it up and sort one thing that I regretted ever since the winter rebuild and the reason I never shown a photo of the rear of the car
Due to...
Next trackday bookded -
Bedford Monday 16th October with MSV
Always like the idea of messing around with other Clios if anyone is about?!
I wanted to go further afield as I want to do all the tracks in the UK at some point but can't be bothered with driving the car on the road to far and also...
I have these as the car is road legal at the moment. When/if I race it will will come off the road and I will fit a 5/6 point aircraft buckle style one.
I was under the impression you need the standard 'road' buckle to pass the MOT. Lower mounting points are on eye bolts mounted rear of the...
Dreaded MOT time! Spent some time sorting out a few light that didn't work. Rear number plate was interesting as it wasn't the lamp, it was the connection in the bumper that had got wet and had corroded.
Standard front number plate on and a few other bits and it........... passed!
Turns out I...
So the last three weeks have been very strange as I haven't felt the burden of having to get the car ready for anything so I've had free time again! So today I got the clio out the garage and took it for a drive as the MOT runs out this week. I have the following week off work so I will pop it...
Good decision, it took me forever to wrap the cage up in newspaper when I painted mine. It was also very hard to paint in the footwell/bulkhead area. I'll know for next time!
Interesting read, how do I find out more about the championship? Dates, rules etc.
I think I've put my car into a grey area were it runs a standard engine/gearbox but is modified in every other aspect (fibreglass panels, plastic windows etc).
Out of interest how much did your day at Castle...
Nice work guys. I'm interested in watching the footage as -
1) I need/want to compete in some variation of motorsport soon but still unsure which route to take with the clio and
2) I did a trackday at CC less than two weeks ago so was interested in comparative speed!
One thing I noticed is...
It is a brake duct for a dax cobra which was brought for this......
But it/they never got fitted. I just checked the Dax website and can't find them. The pipe outlet is 70mm (same as the air inlet to the engine). To be honest it does sit proud in front of the bumper grill and could do with...
