Brake Squeek - Taking Front Pads Out...

You'll only have to push them back if the disks have huge lips on them, otherwise they should slot out and back in. I found my squealing was worn carriers and slider pins and the whole caliper was 'chattering' on the slides in spite of grease.

    M3. V8. Saloon.

Interesting that the M3 saloon got the coupe headlights too.

The LCi facelift went to LED rear lights, but you need to change the bootlid too.

    Lightweight battery

Indeed, can it be used in a car driven daily, yes. Can you just bolt one into your standard car and expect it to perform just like the bigger one? No.

    Lowering steering column

There are another two bolts way back under the dash the same as the front two You can see the second pair on there.

    When Headlight Restoration goes wrong...

Never used the 3m kit, I just sourced the sandpaper myself and had the cutting compound and polish anyway, but theres no chance I'd be attaching a plastic headlight lense with sandpaper on any power tool, theyre just too soft and any heat softens them. proceed with caution on the next one and...

Also consider the draw when the car is off such as alarms, clock etc. In most track applications they come off the track fully charged, the car is shut off and then isolated

    When Headlight Restoration goes wrong...

Sandpaper in the drill? No! You need to wet sand with each grade by hand, ensuring you remove all the scratches from the previous stage each time so thatwhen you're done you're left with a frosted finish which is even and the scratches left are small enough to be removed by the polish alone.

    When Headlight Restoration goes wrong...

You may be able to heat you headlamps, peel off the clear covers, and swap on some off some boggo spec cheap headlamps, rather than shelling out for a pair of xenons.

    Cage bolt in/weld in? Daily?

Definitely, so just buy a cage without it, just a single door bar: If you get a non- dash dodger then the front leg will also be further forward out of the way.

Not Another Thread! 15" or 16" for Performance

I switched as it's easier and cheaper to source 15" track tyres. On a road car, running road tyres, I'd run the 16s and be done with it, youll never feel any difference.

    Lightweight battery

There are two main manual types, one is just a 2 contact switch to cut the main battery feed, the other is normally sold as an FIA switch and isolates the alternator etc as well (better). Beyond that there are things like the discarnect which goes near the battery, and some solid state...

    Spark plug banter

Dont really understand why NGK is seen as expensive? I always use the cheap copper ones, never bother with iridium plugs, but after a couple of issues with bosch plugs years ago I choose to use NGK in everything - they're normally no more expensive though?

Breaking cover......*AG content from page 45*

Ah fair enough, I assumed it was the normal braided effort used for oil coolers and stuff which is mega stiff! No worries, just though I'd mention it

Breaking cover......*AG content from page 45*

Hi mate, This one: You've got the sensor securely fitted to the shell and all the relative movement from the engine, transmitted down a relatively stiff hose is taken by the thread on the sensor itself, and the alloy adaptor hanging off it. It will probably be fine, but for the sake of an...

If your car was off the road, what would you do to it?

Absolutely! I remember doing all the same work to a nova years ago, jacking it up a month later and going "oh" 😢 because I hadnt thought to protect those bits!

    15s / Tyres / Fitment

They 195/50 15 tyre diameter matches well with the 195/40 16. Wheel otherwise should stay the same. I went with 15*7 ET 38 (cup offset) with the correct centrebore.

Has anyone fitted a Quaife style gearknob on a clio?

I went with a BMS shifter in the end from Ashley, go the knob came included. Awesome mod for the car

Breaking cover......*AG content from page 45*

I'e get a large P clip or similar round the actual hose there mate, I've seen these alloy fittings fatigue fracture, or the threaded section on the sensor break off in similar circumstances.

If your car was off the road, what would you do to it?

I'e be painting the track rods, track rod ends and balljoints. Looks lovely now, but from experience they go rusty in no time at all.

If your car was off the road, what would you do to it?

Only jobs I've ever needed a car 'off the road' for was a turbo rebuild, because it shat itself, or where there is a parts turnaround, anything else can be achieved by planning a saturday and leaving Sunday free in case it goes wrong and having an alternative option for work on monday (rarely...
