There's definitely something weird going on with van owners, especially VW van owners...
This one belongs to my mate, and it's his pride and joy. He uses it for work, yet he spends a fortune on it!
Hope all is clear now Chippie... Even if your 182 had the Cup splitter, suspension, wheels and spoiler it wouldn't make it a 182 Cup, but a FF 182.
A 'Cup' has cloth interior and no climate control amongst other things, they're usually Racing Blue too although there's a couple of other colours...
The ST's with ceramic brakes are quicker 100mph, as long as the rear spoiler is adjusted to the correct angle... Unless the 182 has a spare wheel and diffuser, then the Clio would win.
I think you're exaggerating our opinions, Royston. I'd happily have any of the cars in the review, it's just a shame that cars are getting so lardy these days.
Surely though, if the Ka and Twingo etc can achieve 5-star NCAP ratings then why does an Astra/Clio have to be the size of a tank? I know they have more equipment and more legroom, boot space etc but cars seem much bigger than necessary... All with tiny windows and poor visibility too.
I took the Astra around Rockingham earlier in the year and was pleasantly surprised too, although I couldn't get over how huge hatchbacks feel these days. I still hated the gearnob though.
I was at Curborough Sprint Course today, and there was a nice black 172 going round. I recognise the car but not sure why, it had the popping remap done too judging by the sound of it.
