You're right about admiral... When I declared my wheels, they said they would be replaced with standard turinis if they were damaged. What a load of b****cks.
I cant say ive ever seen just a backbox?
I'd think it would be quite a lot more than that for a new one if you could get one though mate. I'd just keep saving until you can get the full system.
He is (paid and everything!), but he hasn't put any hello thread up, he's just prowling. Lol.
Ah.... Well in that case, you may have to park outside.... The ramp on the way in to the car park is pretty steep....
17's?! Behave!
Don't listen to this guy. 17's look and handle s**t on a Clio.... Makes the car feel lazy.
I'd have to agree with the buying a 172 track car idea, but if you want to modify the 1.4, then have a lookthrough this thread for inspiration...
It will sound like a diesel on tickover when the engine is warm. They're not too expensive, the part is around £150, labour, I'm not sure because I had mine done at the same time as my cambelt.
There is a performance advantage to switvhing to 15's. Plus you get cheaper tyres and a better selectionof performance / track day tyres.
They'll do no damage whatsoever. Get them on.
Fail. I thought they had everything.
No worries chap, it's all information that can be found by searching, but it's hard to do if you don't know what you're looking for.
BTW, I'm 21 too and drive a 172 cup. insurance is £790 with Admiral but they raped me for the very basic mods (wheels...
Shifting down into second at 15 would not cause oversteer..... it will only do that if you have some serious engine braking, ie. were doing 40+
Do have shitty dithcfinder tyres on the back?
Despite what a few people are saying, the weight of your wheels makes a very noticeable difference to the car. Any weight saved on the wheels, brakes etc is effectively multiplied by 4.
15's are the way forawrd, especially on a ph1. Buy the lightest 15's you can afford.... Team dynamics are...
172 ph1 - cable throttle, otherwise pretty much the same as the phase 2.
172 ph2 - half leather, cruise control, climate control etc etc.
172 cup - no abs, no traction control, poverty spec interior, no air con (although there are a few with it as an optional extra)
182 - more or less the same...
For christ sake do NOT put 17's on it. I had to borrow some for a week and they were absolutely tragic.
Heavy wheels will ruin your car. 16's are at absolute maximum. If you're performance oriented like you say, then you should be looking at 15's, not 17's!
