Probably changing gears far too soon and not letting it come on cam.
When I first drove the 182, i thought "hmmm, lacking a bit of low end torque" and then I let the revs build and go past 5000 rpm.
Brown trouser moment.
Of course, used to it now, but at the time it was like "woooahh...
Vibe? Good?
Hell yeah!! Im stunned by how deep and how loud the 12" active is (its what i have), why anyone needs more than it is beyond me. Either the 10" or the 12" sound very nicely balanced when used with a good set of components up the front.
Id go as far to say that you wont ever use...
Ive got through £10 in one day with not much driving because ive had the air con on every time ive been in it.
The kick in the back is defintely less pronounced with the aircon on.
Easy solved though, windows down, aircon off and enjoy the engine note.
I know the climate control with the aircon on zaps power from the engine, but does anyone else feel its a noticeable drain on the engine?
I didnt think I would notice, but I do.
Well to be fair, Reg Vardy Livingston have always been good, prompt and helpful for me; but this was with warranty work - they even hoovered the car out for me each time i picked it up. Perhaps once the car is out of warranty, they might be a little less helpful.
However, their sales guys are...
Bleh,
Whipped off the engine cover and mine is starting to do this. Its not bad, just looks like a little bit of oil up round the bolts. I mentioned it to my dad who said it was only a bit of oil and not really much of a concern unless it was to get a lot worse.
Leaking oil can never be a...
I have to say when i test drove the 182 (i had a 1.6 Fiesta Zetec-S at the time), it did feel like it lacked torque at low rpm, but then i realised you need to rag the tits off it; then its certainly quick enough.
It does make you work hard in the gears to get the most of it.
Mine is doing it again, splutter and big flat spot at 2000 rpm, almost sounding like one of the cylinders isnt firing.
Not a huge deal, ill just leave it a minute before I head off in the morning.
Spotted a blue MK2 V6 on the M8 just coming out of Edinburgh heading west, coming off at newbridge. It had a private plate, I think it started B16.
Anyone?
I toyed with swapping the 182 for an Audi TT, when I asked about trade in (6 months old, 6k miles on the clock, just taxed for 12 months, immaculate) the best I was looking was "eights" for a trade in value.
Sh!te in other words.
well thank god for that,
I started the car up yesterday in the soaring heat, flicked the air con on to "mini", got out the car to put my golf clubs in the boot and saw something p!ssing out the bottom of the car.
"not something else gone wrong?!" i thought, but i could see it was just...
Yeah the headrests "jiggle" as opposed to rattle. I have mine sitting fully down to prevent the jiggling.
The jiggling headreasts werent a problem in the 1.2 courtesy Clio i had; I suspect its a problem on the 172/182 because of the stiff suspension.
I have http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3856&cadid=a602896c166502ef94a9106bd01fc953this - the Alpine 9851R fed to a 4 channel Alpine amp and to Focal Polyglass components in the front. Sounds brilliant.
It matches the fascia very well, plays MP3s, has dual colour...

Merc build quality is definitely not what it once was. Just look at all the reliability and owner satisfaction surveys.
Agree with that, my cousin has a SL 500 and he says "very fast, turns heads" but hes utterly sick of the fact its never...
Ive had my 182 in to have this fixed, as i dont think its right.
I dont have it all the time, but usually in the morning from cold; the car stutters and jumps for the first 60 seconds of driving but clears after that and its fine. It feels a bit like a bit of a misfire, as I also sometimes...
I asked Admiral about this 10 month bonus accelerator and what it would say on my letter if i asked for proof of no claims.
They confirmed it would read "1 year" and not "10 months".
Holy christ, i near shat myself when i got back in the 182. The pace is phenomenal and that "woaaahh" feeling came back when i got a kick in the arse in second gear at 5000 rpm.
The steering, brakes, clutch and gearbox as so much heavier than the Clio 1.2.
The chassis, poise and feel of...
Reg Vardy Renault in Livingston fixed mine perfectly.
Faulty coolant temperature sensor was replaced. They also had to strip out (possibly replace) plugs that were flooded with fuel.
I couldnt live without xenons and I like having the headreasts in the back + leather/alcantara in the back. Xenons are the ultimate bit of kit for me on the 182, theyre just awesome and I would not move to any car without them.
So personally, I wouldnt move to a Trophy - I also dont like red...
So in goes my cupped 182 for a couple of warranty jobs and I get a courtesy car for a couple of days... a 1.2 Clio.
In the name of lord, its a slow car; however it is quite comfy with its soft squishy suspension but I need to rev the tits of it with full throttle to get it to go anywhere. I...
