Are you sure it's springs that are the problem? Rear shocks going is quite common on these.....

No it isn't 195 / 45 / 16 is standard...... 195 / 50 / 15 compensates for the smaller wheel size so that the speedo isn't out.

I really don't think it will be engine mounts chap.... wouldn't think you will feel that through the steering, normally just a knocking. Does it do it if you put your foot on the clutch at speed and coast?
